McEwen, Confederate Veteran, Dies Monday Morning Mr. Henry Clay McEwen, well known Atlanta citizen, who for many years had been a steward in St. Paul’s Methodist church, died Monday morning at his home, 211 Cameron street, after an illness of but a few hours. He was seventy-eight years of age, and was apparently in good health until Monday morning, when he was stricken. Members of his family were at his bedside when death occurred. Mr. McEwen, who was retired from active business, had made his home in Atlanta for many years. As a member of the St. Paul’s Methodist church, he took a prominent part in church affairs, and had rendered the church valued services as steward. He was a veteran of the Confederacy and belonged to Camp Walker, U. C. V. Surviving him are three sons, J. A. H. McEwen, of West Palm Beach, Fla., H. L. and C. W. McEwen, of Atlanta; three daughters, Mrs. W. S. Carroll, Mrs. D. W. Hopkins, of Atlanta; and Mrs. J. W. Black, of Elberton, and three sisters, Mrs. J. E. Bond, Mrs. Jeff Bond and Mrs. Lettie Dean.
