All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/ga/gafiles.htm ************************************************ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Julia White JCORKTOP12@aol.commc March 31, 2010, 9:36 pm Southern Recorder-December 18-1838-pg-3 OBITUARY Departed this life on the Friday evening, the 27th ult., at his residence in Hancock county, AARON SMITH, Esq, in the 61st year of age, after a protracted illness that confined him to his bed nearly twelve months, with but little intermission-during the greater part of which time his sufferings were without a parallel, but it was borne with Christian patience and fortitude, and the time evincing a perfect resignation to the will of Heaven. He is gone to that borne from whence no traveller returns-his earthly remains were placed upon the bier that conveyed him to the silent tomb, on Sabbath ensuing, borne and followed by a number of his numerous friends. This porvidential stroke has made a chasm in the society of his relations, friends, and acquaintances, the world can never fill. Mr. Smith was greatly esteemed by those that knew him, for his benevolence, he never turned a deaf ear to the cries of the needy, nor were any ever sent empty away that appealed unto him. He was truly the Widows friend, the orphans father, a kind husband, a tender and affectionate father, and an indulging master- but he is gone to enjoy the realities of heavenly bliss. R. M. S.
