In the Name of God Amen. I, Michael Dickson, being weak in body, but of sound memory blessed be God, do this day August the twenty-seventh, in the year of our Lord A.D. 1803, make and publish this my last Will and Testament in the manner and form following (Viz.) First, I give my body to the earth to be buried in a decent manner, and my soul I recommend to God who gave it. I lend unto my beloved wife M……... Dickson, one hundred acres of land beginning on a dogwood corner.……. pursuing a north course, then .….. line ...from Harrel's line .…….. Harrels ……...the said ... until twenty fif.……………her death. I also lend her a bay mare named .….. until she has a colt in piece ... ……David, and one supposed to be born and each to suck until they are nine months old, and then to remain the property of my wife forever so continue the lent of Hanner and Jude, hers during her natural life. I also lend unto my wife one negroe boy called James, until my son Curry arrives at the age of twenty one years old. I also give her a chestnut sorrel mare, and all the stock of cattle that was formerly hers before I married her, half the stock of hogs by quantity, plantation table house and kitchen furniture, bedding and drye cattle excepted. I also leave her. her feather bed and furniture. I leave my five oldest children, JOHN, BENJAMIN, WILLIAM, THOMAS and CURRY five hundred dollars each to be received as they become of age. If my son William see cause to take my negroe fellow called Harry at the sum of four hundred and twenty five dollars if in the said negro to be sold in the county of Washington when my son William becomes of age. If my son Curry sees cause to take my negroe fellow James at the sum of ... dollars when he arrives at the age of twenty one years.……be sold. I ... give my son .…….. taken at nine .………………. Dickson ... and my son Benjamin a feather bed and furniture, and I give to John and William one feather bed and furniture and I also give Thomas and Curry one feather bed and furniture. I also give Cyrus and David one bed and furniture to be taken when they become of age. I also leave Cyrus and David and the child supposed to be unborn five hundred dollars each to be delivered to them as they become of age or marry. My land in Greene to remain unsold and the Island on the Altamaha all other lands to be sold the land in Green and the Island not to be sold until David becomes of age, the stud horse to be sold in the county of Washington next August... to be sold in eighteen hundred and nine in August. The remainder part of my hogs, cows, sheep, goats, and part of my crop to be sold this fawl. I also give half my crop of corn fodder to my wife. I also order that my wife's claim of this land where she now liveth is to be sold and laid out in a negroe to help school and raise the children.
