Will (and Estate Inventory) of Joseph Howell 13 Feb 1819 Hancock Co. GA. From Hancock County, Georgia Will Book J, Pages 318-321: In the name of God Amen. I Joseph Howell of the County of Hancock and state aforesaid do on this 13th of Febry in the year of our Lord 1819, make and ordain this my last Will and testament in manner and form following to wit. I give and bequeath unto my son Meshack Howell a part of the tract of land I now live on to be laid off as follows: Beginning at my Pine corner on Ryes Branch thence straight line to Matthew Humphreys line running by a flat rock on the road or path leading from my house to where my said son Meshack Howell now lives, including all that part of my tract of land between said line and Ogeebee River, to him and his heirs forever. I give and bequeath unto my daughter Nancy Hicks one negro man named Simon - on condition that she pay to my daughter Hedney Critonden one hundred dollars and to my daughter Friby Clark one hundred dollars to her and her heirs forever. Now my will is that the balance of my tract of land including my dwelling house and plantation attached thereto, together with all other property that I may leave, be sold on a credit of twelve months and that the money arising from said sale be equally divided among my five children namely Hezekiah Howell, Joseph Howell, Hedney Crittenden, Feriby Clark and Winifred Jourden, to them and their heirs forever. And finally I nominate, Constitute and appoint my son Meshack Howell and William Harwick while and sole Executors to this my last will and testament, hereby revoking and disannulling all former wills by me made and confirming this to be my last will and testament.
