Item 1st I give to my son Jame Simmons two negroes Elleck and Aaron; but he is not to have Aaron until his mothers death without she thinks proper to give him up. I also give him all the money that was due me in Virginia with whatever he has in his possession that was mine to him and his heirs forever. 2nd I give to my daughter Elizabeth Thorp two negroes by the names of Clary and Ellie? and our feather bed and furniture besides what I have before given her, to her and heirs forever. 3rd I give to my daughter Sally Butts two negroes by the names of July and Nancy likewise one feather bed and furniture together with what I have before given her, to her and heirs forever. 4th I give to my son Benj Simmons two negroes by the names of John and Henry. I also give him part of the tract of land that was A. Fails beginning at Capt. T. Choice's corner running as the line is chopped to Joseph Thorps line together with whatever I have given to him before to him and heirs forever. 5th I give to my son Jesse Simmons the plantation whereon he now lives also one negroe by the name of Isaac. I also lend him one negroe Jerry but if he should have an heir or heirs then said negro togehter with whatever I have before given him to him his heirs forever. 6th I give to my daughter Patsey Lucas three negroes by the names of Ephraim, Polly, and Isaac Lucy's child, one feather bed and furniture with what I have before given her to her and to her heirs forever. 7th I give to my son John Butts Simmons all the land that I possess in Hancock County after his mothers death also two negroes by the names of Lewis and Edgo and one horse Rawley by name and one feather bed and furniture three ewes and lambs, two sows and pigs, to him and his heirs forever. 8th Eighthly and lastly I give to my beloved wife Sarah Simmons all the remainder of my estate that I have not willed away after paying my debts and that to be at her disposal Viz my will and desire is that if my wife should die without a will that all the legatees must together and divide as equally as they can without disputes. My will is that my wife be my Executrix. James Simmons and Benjamin Simmons be my Executors of this my last will and testament. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affix my seal this December the twenty second in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and thirteen. Some of the names of the slaves I was not sure about, John Simmons. Benjamin Simmons was born in Virginia in Isle of Wight County. He moved with his family to Georgia after 1789. He was married to Sarah Butts in 1772 in Brunswick County, Virginia.
