RE: 1870 HARALSON COUNTY, GA. CENSUS Unique page numbers have been assigned to some pages in the 1870 Haralson Co., GA census transcription. Normally, census pages are sorted by the STAMPED numbers appearing on the right hand side of every other page. The 1870 census contains DUPLICATE handwritten page numbers (1 thru 18 Dist 813, and 1-18, Dist. 1078). In addition, the pages were out of order when they were stamped which split some Dwelling and Family numbers. For instance, Household 165 starts on STAMPED page 37 (b) and continues on STAMPED page 48(a). This is true of numerous other dwellings and families. In order to keep the dwelling and family numbers continuous, I have arranged the pages according to the HANDWRITTEN page number. This results in the stamped pages being OUT OF ORDER but the HANDWRITTEN pages are in order. To overcome the duplicity in page numbers, District 813 pages 1-18 are numbered 101 thru 118(A & B). These pages are printed at the end of the transcription. The numbers are separated by a dash(-). 101-1A is Handwritten page 1, Stamped Page 1A. I know this may be confusing because it was to me. Just remember to go by the HANDWRITTEN page numbers. No attempt has been made to correct spelling of names, etc. Since unintentional errors may have occured when transcribing the census, I urge you to take the time to review the actual census images which are on line. The image page numbers are sorted according to the STAMPED number, therefore, some families will be split. An asterisk (*) indicates questionable entry. E. Robertson Copyright 1998
