The intent is to transcribe them as carefully as possible. There are gaps and holes in some pages which may distort some of the information. I am using the spelling of today, but in some cases I have also included the spelling of the time. There are several family names which I have had to guess at, but someone out there knows who they were. Any errors should be reported to me and I will gladly correct them. My primary interest was originally in my own family lines, of which I found at least six: White, Brown, Scott, Bush, Worthy and Holcombe. Other related families include Chandler, Barry and Head. There are others, including Dean, Philpot etc. I have learned much from this effort. I hope others will share my enthusiasm. Most of the pages are numbered and I have retained the numbers as I found them. All of the records are handwritten and some parts are difficult to read. There is a certain degree of regularity which may lead one to believe there is little to be found. Not so. I have shown all family names and what I found to be most interesting in bold typescript. The record may show some individuals in a poor light: some of the members were publicly criticized or even excluded from membership. I have not changed the record nor do I intend to hurt anyone, living or dead. The record simply speaks for itself. It is not my place to judge the actions of any of the parties. This record covers a twenty year period in the lives of our ancestors Preface Let y(our lig)hts so shine before men that seeing your good works will glorify your father which is in heaven. Therefore we are commanded to maintain good works. It will cause those that are in darkness to see light. It will subdue darkness and develop light, for where this light shines darkness cannot comprehend it. Just let your lights shine. [On the reverse side appears the following names and numbers.] W. L.
