Mr Estavanko was born May 15, 1845 in Austria-Hungary near the village of Kocise. He was married to Mary (Czimar) Estavanko and she survives him. He was engaged in farming and also was a trader of horses and livestock as well. He was a member of the Catholic faith but frequented many of the area churchs as well including the Methodist Church in Buchanan and Bethel Baptist Church of Bremen. He is survived by his wife, Mary (Czimar) Estavanko and a son, Adam Estavanko both of the Nitra community. His is also survived by a brother, Paul Estvanko of the Nitra community also, several grandchildren and nephews also survive him. He was preceeded in death by a son, Joseph Estavanko on September 16, 1909. Services will be conducted at the home with burial following in the Estavanko Cemetery at Nitra. ------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------- MARY (CZIMAR) ESTAVANKO May 17, 1932 Mrs Mary Estavanko passed away at her home yesterday afternoon. She was a resident of the Nitra community and a member of the Catholic faith. She was born in 1847 in Austria-Hungary (Slovakia) and migrated to Haralson County with her late husband in 1897, living in the Slovak settlement of Nitra. She was married to Jacob Estavanko and he proceeded her in death on March 2, 1923. Survivors include her son, Mr Adam Estavanko of Nitra and several grandchildren. Besides her husband, she was proceeded in death by her son Mr Joseph Estavanko on September 16, 1909. Funeral services were conducted at the home and burial took place at the Estavanko Cemetery at Nitra. JOSEPH ESTAVANKO September 16, 1909 Mr Joseph Estavanko of the Nitra community passed away on September 16 at the young age of 19 of unusual circumstances at his home. Mr Estavanko supposedly suffered from seizures and is thought to have choked to death. He was married at the age of 12 in 1902 to his wife, Mary (Majda) Estavanko and she survives him. Mr Estavanko was a farmer in the Nitra community and a member of the Catholic church. Besides his wife, Mr Estavanko is survived by his children, Joseph S. Estavanko and "Kate" Estavanko both of the home, his parents Jacob and Mary (Czimar) Estavanko of Nitra and a brother Adam Estavanko of Hazelbrook, Pennsylvania. Services will be conducted at the home and burial will take place at the Estavanko Cemetery at Nitra. ------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------- ADAM ESTAVANKO February 18, 1940 Haralson County lost one of its own in with the passing of Mr Adam Estavanko last Sunday evening of a sudden illness. Mr Estavanko had suffered from Black Lung after previous years of working in the coal mines in Pennsylvania. Mr Estavanko was born in Kocise, Austria-Hungary (Slovakia) on December 24, 1874. After arriving in the United States with his parents he worked in Pennsylvania and moved to Haralson County in 1897. He returned to Hazelbrook, Pennsylvania in 1899 and then again returned to Haralson County in the fall of 1915. He was a farmer after his return and made is home in the Slovak community of Nitra and was also a member of the Catholic church. Mr Estavanko married Maria Grega in 1898 in Haralson County and she preceeded him in death on July 3, 1915. He then married his widowed sister-in-law, Mary (Majda) Estavanko and she survives him. Mr Estavanko is survived, in addition to his wife, by his children: Mr Joseph M. "Joe C" Estavanko, Mr Steven Estavanko and Mrs Charles (Kate) Hutchinson of Detroit, Michigan, Mrs Noah (Annie) Maddox of Atlanta, Georgia, Mrs Albert (Pauline) Rado of Lorain, Ohio, Mr Joseph S. "Big Joe" Estavanko, Miss Mary Estavanko and Miss Helen Estavanko of Nitra. He was preceeded in death by his parents, Jacob and Mary (Czimar) Estavanko, his first wife, Maria (Grega) Estavanko, his brother Joseph Estavanko in 1909 and his children, Maria Estavanko, Michael Estavanko, Margaret Estavanko and John Estavanko. Services were conducted at the home and burial followed in the Estavanko Cemetery at Nitra. MARY (MAJDA) ESTAVANKO December 24, 1972 Mrs Mary Estavanko passed away last evening at Higgins Memorial Hospital in Bremen. She had been in declining health for some time. Mrs Estavanko was born in the Carpathian Mountain region of Austria-Hungary in the village of Kezmarok (Slovakia) on May 31, 1887. She arrived in the United States in 1899. After her arrival in America she made her home in Pennsylvania for a short time before moving to the Slovak settlement of "Nitra" in Haralson County. She made her home in the Nitra community for many years until making her home with her daughter. She was a founding member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Carrollton. She is survived by her children, Mr Steve Estavanko and Mrs Carl (Kate) Flatt of Detroit, Michigan, Mrs Pauline Rado of Lorain, Ohio, Mrs Noah (Annie) Maddox and Mr Joseph S. "Big Joe" Estavanko of Atlanta, Georgia, Mrs Selma J. "Pete" Shadrix and Mrs Thomas R. (Helen) Brooks of Bremen. She was proceeded in death by her first husband, Mr Joseph Estavanko on September 16, 1909, her second husband, Mr Adam Estavanko on February 18, 1940 and by children, Joseph M. "Joe C" Estavanko in 1971 and Margaret Estavanko in 1918. Funeral services were conducted at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church with burial following in the Estavanko Cemetery at Nitra. MARGARET ESTAVANKO March 22, 1918 Miss Margaret Estavanko, age 5, daughter of Mr and Mrs Adam Estavanko of the Nitra community passed away suddenly at her home from complications of a nose bleed. She was a bright and happy child and will be sadly missed by those who knew her. Survivors besides her parents are her brothers and sisters, Joseph "Joe C" Estavanko, Steve Estavanko, Pauline Estavanko, Annie Estavanko, Joseph S. "Bog Joe" Estavanko and Kate Estavanko all of Nitra, her paternal grandparents, Mr and Mrs Jacob Estavanko of Nitra, and maternal grandmothers, Mrs Mary Majda Timon of Nitra and Mrs Annie Grega of Hazelbrook, PA. Funeral services were conducted at the home with burial in the Estavanko Cemetery at Nitra. ------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------- PAUL ESTVANKO SR. August 25, 1932 Mr Paul Estvanko passed away from injuries suffered in an automobile accident. Mr Estvanko fell from the running board in which he was riding on. He was born near Kocise, Austria-Hungary in 1868 and had been a resident of Haralson County for over 35 years coming from Pennsylvania. He was a farmer in the Nitra community where he made his home. He was married to Eula (Timon) Estvanko and she survives him. Other survivors include his sons, John Estvanko or Columbus, Ohio, Paul Estvanko Jr. of Cleveland, Ohio, Joseph L. "Little Joe" Estvanko and Frank A. Estvanko of Nitra. Funeral services were conducted and burial followed in the Estavanko Cemetery at Nitra. ------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------MARY MAJDA-TIMON July 12, 1931 Haralson County lost its oldest resident yesterday with the passing of Mrs Mary Majda-Timon at the home of her daughter. Mrs Timon was 122 years of age at the time of her death and documentation attests to this. Born in 1809 in Austria-Hungary within the Carpathian Mountain region near Kezmarok, she arrived in the United States near 1899. She is survived by her daughters Mrs Paul (Eula) Estvanko and Mrs Adam (Mary) Estavanko of Nitra and several grandchildren. Services and burial took place at the Estavanko Cemetery at Nitra. EULA (TIMON) ESTVANKO July 29, 1955 Mrs Eula Estvanko passed away in Atlanta after a brief illness. She was a resident of Haralson County for many years. Born in Kezmarok, Austria-Hungary (Slovakia), she was married to Paul Estvanko who preceeded her in death on August 25, 1932. She is survived by her sons John Estvanko of Columbus, Ohio, Paul Estvanko Jr of Cleveland, Ohio and Frank Estvanko of Atlanta, her sister Mrs Mary Estavanko of Bremen and several grandchildren. Besides her husband, she was proceeded in death by her mother, Mrs Mary Majda-Timon on July 12, 1931 and her son Joseph L. "Little Joe" Estvanko on August 13, 1949. Services were conducted at Hightower Fuenral Home of Bremen with burial following in the Estavanko Cemetery at Nitra. ------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------- JOSEPH L. ESTVANKO August 13, 1949 Mr Joseph L. "Little Joe" Estvanko passed away after a lengthly illness at the young age of 44 yesterday. He had been a lifelong resident of Haralson County and was well known within the Nitra community where he made his home. Mr Estvanko is survived by his 3 daughters and former wife, Lois (Hammond) Estvanko and by brothers, Mr Frank Estvanko of Bremen, Mr John Estvanko of Columbus, Ohio and Mr Paul Estvanko Jr of Cleveland, Ohio and by his mother Mrs Eula Estvanko of Nitra. Funeral services were conducted and burial followed at the Estavanko Cemetery at Nitra.
