Uncle Johnnie is 84 years old, and was one among the first settlers in this county. He helped to drive out the Indians under Captain (late General) Toombs. He was a plow boy in 1812, and is now hearty and active, can walk eight or ten miles without exhaustion, and never took a dose of medicine in his life – only “kitchen physic” as he expresses it.
