Uncle John Florence and wife were in town Tuesday.  Uncle Johnnie is 84 years
old, and was one among the first settlers in this county.  He helped to drive
out the Indians under Captain (late General) Toombs.  He was a plow boy in 1812,
and is now hearty and active, can walk eight or ten miles without exhaustion,
and never took a dose of medicine in his life – only “kitchen physic” as he
expresses it.
