WALLACE GUTHRIE
August 30, 1926  - December 5, 2001

PINE MOUNTAIN - Mr. Wallace Guthrie, age 75 of Pine Mountain, passed away Wednesday, December 5, 2001 at St. Francis Hospital in Columbus.  Mr. Guthrie was born August 30, 1926 in Holly Pond, Alabama.  He was the son of the Late Luther Henry and Monteree Kuykendall Guthrie.  He was a retired heavy equipment operator from Vance Smith Construction Company.  He was a member of Bethany Baptist Church and a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II.

Graveside services were held Saturday, December 8, 2001 at 3:00 pm at Bethany Baptist Church, Pine Mountain with Rev. Joel Chapman officiating.  Burial was in Bethany Baptist Church Cemetery, Pine Mountain.

Survivors include: one daughter and son-in-law, Carol and Phil Williams, Pine Mountain; one step-son and step-daughter-in-law, Tom and Ginny Strickland, LaGrange; three grandchildren, Wendi Banks, Travis Strickland, and Jason Strickland, all of Pine Mountain;  six great-grandchildren; two sisters, Kitty Metz Young, Cullman, Alabama and Carlene Haynes, Cave Spring, Georgia; several nieces and nephews and a very special friend, Gaye Farrow of Columbus.

The family met at the home of his daughter and son-in-law, Carol and Phil Williams in Pine Mountain.
