S. Irvin Died at the Home of His Son in This City ________ Mr. J. S. Irvin died at the resi- dence of his son, Mr. W. T. Irwin. No 2140 Hamilton avenue at 8:30 o'clock Friday night, after an illness of about six weeks. Mr. Irvin was 85 years of age and was for many years a well known farmer in Harris county. His health becoming bad he removed to Columbus several months ago and liv- ed with his son. He had been a mem- ber of the missionary Baptist church for fifty years, and was honored and esteemed by all who knew him. He is survived by four sons, Messrs. J. Y., J. S. Jr., and W. T. Irvin, all of Columbus and Mr. G. S. Irvin of Harris county. He also leaves four sisters, Mrs. Matilda Martin, Mrs. Eli- za Harris, Mrs. Susan Robinson and Mrs. Mattie Winfree, all of Harris county, and one brother, Mr. Daniel Irvin of Dengerfield, of Morris coun- ty, Texas. His remains were taken on the 3 o'clock train yesterday afternoon to Hamilton, where the funeral and in- terment took place at 5 o'clock, the services being conducted by Rev. Mr. Moncrief. S. and as far as I know, he was not a Dr. as noted in title.
