Town Marshal Killed

Cooper Truett of Hamilton Takes the Life of Will Robinson

Columbus, Ga., July 16 – Will Robinson, marshal of Hamilton, Ga., was killed 
last night in front of the hotel, the most central point in the town, and in 
the presence of a number of people, by Cooper Truett, a young man about 25 
years of age.  Robinson was about 35 years old and leaves a wife and one 
child.  Truett is unmarried.  He is the youngest son of Hon. A.F. Truett, clerk 
of Harris County.

The difficulty had its origin in the arrest of Truett by Robinson some time ago 
for being intoxicated.  Since that time Truett has been at enmity with the 
marshal.  Both were popular men of Harris County.
