NEWSPAPER Issue of Wednesday, June 13, 1917

Sunday morning,  Messrs. S.N. Sledge,  J.S. Sledge, J.H. Sledge, W.T. Orr and 
Misses Flemmie and Katie P. Parker attended the funeral of the former's 
sister, Mrs. Gus White, near Chipley, Ga (Harris Co.).  Mrs. White was about 80 
years of age and was a highly respected lady.

Mrs. Gus White (Amy Whitfield Sledge White) was in fact Mrs.
George Augustus Owens White.  She was born 7-12-1836 in
Troup County,Georgia the daughter of Captain Robert Hill
Sledge and Elizabeth H. Marcus.  She died 6-9-1917 in Harris
County Georgia.  She was my great-grandmother. John B.
White, Jr.
