In the book, "The History of Harris County, Georgia 1827-1961," by Louise Calhoun Barfield, she mentions on page 532 the Askew Cemetery (Askew Farm). At the time of Mrs. Barfield's research, the stone for John Askew was readable as she makes a notation of it. By 1997, a submitter to the tombstone project notes that the stone is unreadable and list it as in the Maull Family Cemetery. Another marker in the Askew Cemetery is that of Mollie (Askew) Russell Maull, daughter of John Monroe Askew who was the nephew of John Askew of North Carolina. The Askew Farm was Land Lot 54, 202 1/2 acres, 20th District, Harris County, GA and was purchased by Nathan Askew ca. 1836-1837 (no dates given in the Deed Book C, Harris County Courthouse). This property is no longer in the Askew Family. Additional Comments: Even though these Askew descendents are not in John Askew's direct line, it was felt that because of Love for Family and as a memoriam to those who have gone before, a new stone should be placed so that future generations will know who they are and from where they came.
