Ordinary, Guardianships, Page 261 Written: June 3, 1867 State of Georgia, Hart County) By the Court of Ordinary for said County. To Martha E. Higginbotham of said county Greeting - Whereas William B. W. Higginbotham orphan of John T. Higginbotham deceased possessed in his own right a considerable estate by means whereof the power of granting the guardianship of said orphan __ __ is manifestly known to belong and for to better securing the estate and more ample maintenance of said orphan and from the integrity and confidence reposed in you, we do hereby commit the tuition education and guardianship of said orphan to you the said Martha E. Higginbotham you assenting thereto by your acceptance of these letters herein charging you that you maintain and cause to be educated said orphan in such manner as shall be suitable to his interest and circumstances during his minority and that you enquire into and take charge of his estate both real and personal and all other things do which by law you ought to do for said ward; of all which a true account you shall render to this court of Ordinary for said county according to law in every year during your continuance in office and lastly we do hereby constitute and appoint you the said Martha E. Higginbotham Guardian of the above said orphan during his minority Witness my hand as Ordinary and the Seal of the said court this 3rd day of June eighteen hundred and sixty seven. J. B. Higginbotham, age 28, farmer, $500 in real estate and $750 in personal estate, with wife Martha E. Higginbotham, age 30, and son William B. W. Higginbotham, age 8. Hart Co.
