ELMER LEE COCHRAN, 78, beloved Hart County woman of the shoal Creek section, died at her home Thursday, December 18th, at 3:30 p.m. following a fall. Mrs. Cochran is survived by her husband and three stepsons, Messrs. E. Dupree Cochran of Daytona Beach, FL, James P. Cochran of Knoxville, TN and William M. Cochran of Toccoa, GA. She was the last immediate member of her own family. Born in Franklin County, near Carnesville, September 9th, 1874, the deceased was Miss Sallie Parker before her marriage January 28th, 1921, to Mr. Cochran. She was a daughter of the late James P. Parker and Winifred Payne Parker. She was a faithful member of Providence Methodist Church, and had been active for many years in every department of the church program. She had also been prominently identified with all other affairs of the community, and will be greatly missed. Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at 2:30 o’clock from the Providence church, conducted by the pastor, Rev. J. Frank Rollins, in association with Rev. Frank Moorhead of Toccoa. The remains were interred in the cemetery at Liberty Methodist Church in Madison County. Pallbearers were Messrs. Max Shirley, Carmen Jackson, Ben Henry Kay, Luther Bowers, John Elliott and Rupert Griffin. The sympathy of many friends is extended to the bereaved family.
