A. McCurry is Held - Hartwell Ga., July 16 - Business was suspended in Hartwell this afternoon as the funeral services were held in memory of Senator Asben Alpha McCurry, whose death as result of an automobile accident occurred in Atlanta Sunday. Dr. Fred J. Mashburn, pastor of the Methodist church, conducted the ceremony in a peculiarly impressive manner. Dr. Mashburn and the deceased enjoyed an intimate friendship. The music, under the direction of Mr. J. E. Linder, was beautifully rendered. The church was overflowing and the large concourse in a measure attested the popularity of the deceased senator. The escort from the senate was composed of President Pro Tem Peacock and Senators Duke, Elders, Andrews, Gilmere, Heath, Logan and Weaver. After these came representatives from the bar of the northern circuit, headed by Judge Walter L. Hodges, of this circuit. The stewards of the Methodist church of which Senator McCurry was a member were the active pallbearers. Additional Comments: Hart Co. cemetery records show Asben A.
