Atlanta Constitution, 20 Sep 1919
Hartwell, Ga., September 19 - Peyton S. McMullan, prominent Hart county 
farmer, died at his country home late last night after being in declining 
health for some months. He was a son of the late Rev. James H. McMullan and 
leaves a widow, who was Miss Lola Oglesby of Elberton. Mr. McMullan was one of 
the largest land owners in this section. He also owns a number of downtown 
store buildings. He will be buried at Sardis church on the Hailey Ferry road 
Friday morning.

Elbert Co. marriage records show Peyton S. McMullan and Lola J. Oglesby were 
married on 22 Oct 1879. Hart Co. cemetery records show Peyton S. McMullan, 
born 31 Mar 1853, died 17 Sep 1919, and Lola O. McMullan, born 16 Jul 1859, 
died 10 Jan 1921, both buried at Sardis Baptist church, Hart Co.
