Hartwell, GA., Oct 1 -- Mrs. Ella Patterson, 71, lifelong resident of Hart 
County, died at 6:20 this afternoon at the home of her daughter, Mrs. J.E. 
Gilbreath, in the Hammond community near Anderson, following a long illness.  
Mrs. Patterson was the widow of Andrew Jackson Patterson, who preceded her to 
the grave a number of years ago.  She was born and reared in Hart County, a 
daughter of the late Chelsea Adams and Elizabeth Phillips. She was a member of 
the Bowersville Baptist Church. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. J. E. 
Gibreath of Anderson and Mrs. Mary Collins, of Dallas TX;  seven sons, J.B. 
Patterson of Bowersville, L.T. Patterson and Luther Patterson, both of 
Anderson, J.H. Patterson, of Canon, Dennis Patterson of Georgetown, SC., Major 
Bunyan Patterson, with the U.S. Army in Japan, and James Patterson, of Augusta 
Ga.; one sister, Mrs. Victoria Locke, of Harwell.  
Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by the Smith Funeral 
Home.
