John D. Scoggins, 70, of Hartwell, died Friday, December 24, 2004, at his 
residence.

Born in Deerborn, Mich., he was the son of the late Mel Scoggins and Loretta 
Robey Scoggins. He was preceded in death by, in addition to his father, a 
brother, Bobby Joe Scoggins.

Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Kitty Yarbrough Scog-gins; sons, 
Ronald Scoggins, Comer, John Scoggins, Jr., and Bobby Jay Scoggins, both of 
Hartwell; six grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; 
two step-great-grandchildren; his mother, Loretta Robey Scoggins, Carlton; 
sisters, Shelba Harvey, Mineral Springs, N.C., Deanna Amason and Janice 
Benton, both of Carlton.

Funeral services were held Monday, December 27, in the chapel of Hicks Funeral 
Home, with the Revs. Bill Davidson, Terry Meeks and Chaplain Benson Bottoms 
officiating. Burial was in Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery in Dewy Rose.

Hicks Funeral Home, Elberton, was in charge of arrangements.
