JAMES B. THORNTON DIES IN HARTWELL - News reached Atlanta Monday night  of the 
sudden death of James B. Thornton, prominent merchant of Hartwell, Ga. who 
died at  his home Monday. He is survived by his wife; one son J. B. Thornton, 
Jr. and two daughters, Mrs. George Clarke and Mrs. Carey Kidd. Funeral 
services will be held in Hartwell, with the Rev. T. H. Davis of Atlanta, 
officiating. 

Additional Comments:
Hart Co. cemetery records show James Beverly Thornton, born 5 Sep 1857, died 
14 Mar 1921, and Sallie Speed Thornton, born 23 Apr 1863, died 18 Nov 
1942,wife of James B.,  both buried Northview cemetery, Hartwell. Census 
records show Sallie Lou, wife of James B. Thornton, Sr. was born in SC.
