This is NE from Centralhatchee, Heard Co (according to GNIS survey). The Echols Cemetery is now located inside the fence of Wanesley Power Plant, and permission to visit must be obtained by them. There are more than one cemetery inside this 5000 acre complex. Yellowdirt Cemetery is there, and the old church, now boarded up. On one side of the church is a small cemetery inside a fence that only has bits of concrete blocks marking the graves. Across the road from the church is another small cemetery within a fence. Yellowdirt Cemetery is on the other side of the church. It appears to be maintained. The power plant is very secured - you have to have a security guard escort you to the cemetery locations. Elizabeth (Wood) also descends from John Echols and Mary Cave Echols through her mother, Tabitha Glass Wood. Elizabeth Wood Echols moved into Heard County with her mother, Tabitha Glass Wood after the death of Richard Wood in 1803.
