Langley of Heard County, Georgia May 7, 1891 Power of Attorney State of Georgia, Heard County Know all men by these presents tht I, R.E. Langley of Heard County in said State do hereby appoint W.A. Wright of Atlanta my true and lawful attorney in fact for me and in my name to receive and receipt for whatever amount of money I may be entitled to from the State of Georgia as a widow of a Confederate Soldier, as stated in the foregoing affadavit. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 7th day of May 1891. R.E. Langley, X, her mark Executed in the presence of us: G.A. Crain, Ord'y; and T.J. Langley Directions: If allowed, send amount by Register Letter to me at Rockalo, and oblige. Mrs. R.E. Langley Affidavit to be Made by Widow State of Georgia, Heard County In person, came before the undersigned Ordinary in and for the County of Heard, Mrs. R.E. Langley, who being sworn according to law says under oath that she is the widow of William Langley who was a soldier in the service of the Confederate States and served as a member of Company C of the 12 Battalion Georgia Volunteers. That he enlsited in said service on or about November 1863 and that while in the Army he was on the __ day of September 1864 was taken sick and was sent to the hospital and died. Deponent further swears that she was the wife of said deceased soldier during his term of service in the Army and that she has never married since his death. That she became his wife on the 15th day of October 1848 and that she has resided in Georgia continuously since birth; that Georgia is her home and was such on the 23rd day of December 1890 and since said date she has not lived in any other State or locality. Deponent as the widow of said deceased soldier husband applies for the pension provided by Act of the General Assembly of Georgia approved December 23rd 1890 for the pension year ending February 15th 1892 and herewith tenders the proof of her right to receive the allowances granted by said Act. Crain, Ordinary Affidavit fir Three Witnesses State of Georgia, County of Gwinnett In person came before the undersigned Ordinary in and for said County, witnesses James F. Jordan, A.W. Lanford and E.C. Lanford, each known to the attesting officer as truthful, reliable and reputable citizens, who severally say under oath that from their own personal knowledge, Mrs. R.E. Langley of the County of Heard, State of Georgia is the widow of William Langley who was a soldier in Company C of the 12th Battallion of Georgia Volunteers. That said soldier enlisted in the service of the Confederate Army on or about the __ day of November 1863; that while in said service or by reason of said service in the Army, he lost his life as follows: In the month of September 1864 he was taken sick and went to the hospital and there died. All the witnesses state that they belonged to the same Company with William Langley and now, A.W. Lanford states that he was with him when he died and helped to bury him. We further swear that Mrs. R.E. Langley was the wife of said soldier during the service and that she has not intermarried since his death and that she resides in Heard County, State of Georgia. J.T. James T.Lankiss ??, Ordinary of Gwinnett County, Georgia For Widow's Heretofore Allowed Pensions State of Georgia, Heard County Personally comes Mrs. R.E. Langley who being sworn says on oath that she is a bona fide resident of said County of Heard, State of Georgia, and that she has resided ins aid State continuously ever since date of birth in 1832 . That she is the widow of William Langley who lost his life on the 15th day of September 1864 as follows: That while on march to Richmond he was taken sick and then died; that she does not remember the letter of Company and number of Regiment. It was given in former application when she first applied. She has been allowed a pension for the year ending February 15th 1892 and now applies for the allowance provided by law for the year ending February 15th 1893. R.E. Langley who being sworn says on oath that she has resided in said State continuously ever since birth 1832; that she is the Widow of William Langley who was a soldier in Company C of the 12 Regiment of Georgia Volunteers; that he lost his life in 1864 as follows: While in Charlotte North Carolina in service in the Army as a soldier he contracted typhoid pneumonia and died of said disease there in hospital. Deponent swears that she was the wife of the deceased soldier during his service in the army as a soldier; that she has never married again since his death aforesaid; that she became his wife in 1848. She now applies for the pension allowance provided by law for the year ending February 15th 1895. R.E. Langley, X, her mark Sworn to and subscribed before me this 14th day of January 1895. G.A. Crain, Ordinary January 8, 1900 For Widow's Heretofore Allowed Pensions State of Georgia, Heard County Personally comes Mrs. R.E. Langley, who being sworn, says on oath that she is a bona fide resident of said County of Heard, State of Georgia and that she has resided in said State ever since birth November 1832; that she is the widow of William Langley who was a soldier in Company C of the 12th Georgia Regiment of Volunteers; that he lost his life in September 1864 as follows: While at Charlotte N.C. he contracted typhoid fever, was sent to hospital and there died from said disease. That she has been allowed a pension as a resident of Heard County for the year ending February 15th 1899 and now applies for the pension provided by the law for the year ending February 15th 1900.
