Moore of said Heard County, State of Georgia who being duly sworn says on oath that he was born on the 14 day of July 1836, that he is a bona fide citizen and resident of Georgia and has been continuously since birth 14 day of July 1836; that he enlisted in the military service of the Confederate States on the 12th day of May 1862 during the war between the states and served in Co. K of 56th Regiment of Georgia Volunteers and was honorably discharged on the 8 day of May 1865; that whilst engated in such military service and in the line of duty in the State of Georgia on the 31st day of August 1864 he was disabled or wounded as follows: At the battle of Jonesborrough he was struck with a piece of a shall on the right hip causing all the flesh to slough off and was sent to a hospital and there remained for nearly two months and then went on post duty and was never after that time able to do regular military duty. Said wound caused the right side to be partially paralized, the muscles in the leg and arm are contracted and he suffers greatly from rheumatism in them. He is by occupation a farmer, can't use his leg sufficient to plow or hoe or do any thing that causes him to be on his feet. Can't use his arm to do anything that requires lifting. Sworn to and subscribed before me this 7 day of January 1898. Robt G. Crain, Ordinary Affidavit for Three Witnesses State of Georgia, Heard County Personaloly appears before the undersigned Ordinary in and for said County, Elkane Eady, W.A. Gillispie and I.J. Stephens, personally known to me to be trustworthy citizens, each of whom being duly sworn according to law, severally say under oath that they are personally well acquainted with T.C. Moore whose application is herewith presented for a pension, that he has resided in this State continuously since birth, the 14th day of July 1836; that he served in Company K of the 56th Regiment of Cummings Brigade and from our personal knowledge he was injured in the service as follows: At the battle of Jonesborough GA in August 1864 he was wounded by a bombshell striking the right hop causing the flesh to slough off and the muscles to contract and he was partially paralized in the right arm. He can't walk on right leg without great pain and with difficulty. He can't use his right arm in plowing, hoeing, pulling fodder or splitting wood or picking cotton. He has been in this condition since he was in service the Army. And it gradually grows worse. Said arm and leg on right side is substantially and essentially useless and applicant is rendered thereby practically incompetent to perform the ordinary manual vocation of life. He is by occupation a farmer and is totally unable to do farm work. When he received the wound he was carried to hospital and stayed for nearly two months. He then reentered the service and done post duty. He was never able to do regular military duty and he now is a great sufferer from rheumatism. We personally know the above facts. We were with him in the Army and have known him ever since. He was honorably discharged or retired from the service on the 8 day of May 1865. Applicant is permanently disabled as states and has been so to our certain knowledge ever since 1864. Elkane Eady, X, his mark W.A. Gillespie I.J. Stephens, 1st Lt. Co. K 56th GA Vols. Said condition arises from the following facts: From a wound from bombshell on right side just bove the crest of right hip causing the flesh to slough out and partially paralizing right side.
