Jackson of Columbus, spent Sunday with his parents, Walt and Mrs. Jackson. __ FROLONA Community News Mrs. L.J. Vaughan is visiting her daughter, Mrs. Hardy Arrington at LaGrange. __ J.W. Lane spent the weekend in Austell with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Pat Winn. __ Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Lane spent the weekend in Atlanta with sick relatives. __ Mr. J.W. Craven from north Alabama, spent the past week with his nephew, Mr. J.W. Gentry. __ Mrs. Melvin Kelley visited in the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. G.J. Whitaker, who had just returned from a pleasant visit to Florida. __ Mr. and Mrs. Stanton Adams spent Sunday with the latter's parents, Mr. and Mrs. J.U. Noles, left Sunday to join her husband in Tatnall county where he is employed. __ COOLEY's Store community news Wilburn Yates and family, Mrs. Hulette Yates of LaGrange, spent Sunday here. __ Norman Keith and family of near Greenville, spent Sunday with E.O. Barber family. __ NEWSPAPER Issue of Friday, March 14, 1941 TEXAS Community News The birthday dinner at the home of E.J. and Mrs. Mulkey honoring Mrs. R.B. Littlefield was a very enjoyable feast Sunday. Four childre nand eleven grandchildren were present to wish her a happy seventy-fourth birthday and many more. Also a host of friends called. A delicious dinner was enjoyed at noon with a beautiful birthday cake as the centerpiece for the table. ___ The children of Mose and Mrs. Drummond greeted him with a birthday dinner at his home Sunday. Many friends and relatives called and wished him many more happy birthdays. All his children attended but two. __ This community was very grieved Sunday by the death of Mr. Neut Cook, aged and beloved citizen. He had been in declining health for some time. He was laid to rest at Prospect on Monday afternoon, amid huge banks of flowers. He left many friends and relatives to mourn his going and we extend sympathy to all the family and loved ones. __ We are sorry to say that Dr. Mickle is not improving. He is at home now. __ HOME NEWS, GOSSIP Sheriff Bledsoe recently purchased the old Satterwhite place in the southern part of town, has remodeled it, adding water, etc. and this week moved into it. Mr. and Mrs. Virgil Bledsoe will occupy and keep the jail. __ Mrs. H. S. Thompson, 49, after ill health of several years, died at his home near Simpson community, Wednesday of last week, a reliable and good citizen thus passing from his native county's stage of action. The large and impressive funeral was held the next day at Antioch conducted by Revs. M.W. Yarbrough, W.H. Caldwell and O.S. Sheets and directed by Lewis and Lipford, Franklin morticians. Surviving are the widow, one daughter and one son, Ethelle and V.W. Thompson Jr. ___ GLENN Community News Frederick and Mrs. Hunter have moved to Carrollton where Mr. Hunter will operate a jewelry shop. __ Elmer Adamson who is training at Ft. Bragg, N.C. spent the weekend with his parents, Lon and Mrs. Adamson. __ HOME NEWS, SUGGESTIONS, GOSSIP FOR SALE - - Approximately eight acres of land with seven room house, six miles east of Franklin. Cook, Milledgeville, Georgia __ Miss Odell Formby has returned from a vacation trip through Virginia. __ Mr. and Mrs. Winston Burdett, Columbus, Mr. and Mrs. Leman Simonton of Ashville, N.C., were weekend guests of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Simonton. __ Some 300 feet of paving is yet to be done on the fills at the new concrete bridge before traffic can finally be turned onto it and the old bridge town away so that the walkway may be poured. __ Mrs. Minor Stephens is spending awhile with her daughter, Mrs. J.G. Awbrey, in LaGrange. __ Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Godfrey and son Royce, Miss Dora and John Killebrew of Cochran, spent the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. E.A. Lovingood. __ Mrs. Hope H. Lane is spending awhile with Mrs. R.E. Clark in LaGrange. __ Mrs. W.D. Hammond and Miss Ida Maie Hammond of Marion, Ala., are with the Franklin home folks for a few days. __ Mrs. Mary Daniel Ragle, Old Fort,N.C. and Miss Sara Daniel, Fairfax, Ala, spent the weekend with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. G.E. Daniel. Mrs. Daniel has been suffering of asthma for some time. __ Lieutenant E.A. Lovingood has been called to service and will report to Maxwell Field on April 4th.
