LUCY LEE BARKER OF ROOPVILLE PASSES Funeral rites for Mrs. George Barker, age 72, who died Wednesday night at her home in Roopville, Route 1, after a long illness, were held Friday at 12 o'clock noon from Antioch church in Heard County. Rev. Herman Caldwell officiated and pallbearers were Helton Barker, Ford Barker, Troy Barker, Darsey Jones, Danie Thornton and Henry Fawlik. Interment was in the church cemtery. The former Miss Lucy Lee Heard, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Thomas J. Heard, Mrs. Barker was born in Heard County on June 4, 1870 and had lived here until about four years ago, when she and her husband moved to Carroll County. Besides her husband, she is survived by one son, Grover C. Barker of Anniston, Ala; a foster daughter, Mrs. Jessie Jones of Dawson, Ala; nine grandchildren; a brother Buddy Heard of Fiodada, Texas and a sister Mrs. Belle Davis of Thomaston, GA. ____ FROLONA Community News Pvt. and Mrs. Huell Hill announce the birth of twin daughters on Feb 4th. They have been given the names Frances Jeanette and Susie Annette. Pvt. Hill of Camp Beale, California is expected home in a few days. __ Mr. and Mrs. Eddie Lipham of LaGrange, and Mrs. Colbert Lands and Mrs. Grady Meachem visited their mother, Mrs. Mary Lipham last weekend. __ Pvt. Jack Nations of Fort McPherson and Mr. and Mrs. Will Burgess of Langdale, Ala; visited their parents Mr. and Mrs. V.M. Nation. __ Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Craft and Selba Sheets of Hogansville visited Mr. and Mrs. James Sheets on Sunday last. __ MT. PLEASANT Community News The many friends of Bert Davis will be glad to know he is able to get out again after being confined in the hospital for nearly four weeks and at home for nearly seven more weeks. He underwent a very serious operation the last of November. __ Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Freeman and son Joseph of LaGrange, spent the day with the latter's father, Bert Davis, last Sunday. __ Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Arnett made a pleasant trip to Anderson, S.C. last Friday, returning Sunday night. They met their son Kraman whom they had not seen in fourteen months. He is stationed at Camp Cook, Calif. and had been called to the bedside of his wife who had to undergo an operation for appendicitis. Glad to say she is doing as well as can be expected. Kraman has been overseas. __ We are sorry to say that B.J. Parker Sr., who is in his 93rd years, is very feeble at this writing. ___ ROCKALO Community News Mrs. Eualee Blanks, one of our teachers, is in Roanoke Hospital in serious condition with thunderwood poison. __ Rev. Jeff Talley and daughter visited his son-in-law O'Neal Smith on Thursday last and enjoyed a nice supper given in honor of Smith who will soon leave for service. __ Clyde Talley is visiting his parents for a few days before leaving for service. __ LEGAL NOTICE - - Administrator's Sale of Land Georgia, Coweta County By virtue of an order granted by the court of ordinary of said county at the regular February Term of said court, the undersigned will sell on the first Tuesday in March 1943, within the legal hours of sale, before court house door of Coweta County in Newnan, to highest bidder for cash, the following described real estate, belonging to the estate of I.J. Stephens. ______ GLENN Community News Mrs. Ruby Whitley is still confined to her bed. __ Pvt. B.H. Whatley arrived on Tuesday from California to spend a few days with his parents, Henry and Mrs. Whatley. __ HOME NEWS Mr. W.C. Hill spent the weekend at the big army base at Havana, Fla., seeing the sights. He made the trip down with Mr. Cyril Lanier and returned by bus, visiting also Camp Rucker near Dothan, Ala. __ Mr. Jim L.Jackson, serving in Charleston as ship fitter, was at home this weekend. __ Mr. Olin Shackleford, Carrollton and formerly of Franklin, is now stationed in England. __ Mr. James L. Webb of Corinth and Miss Odell Formby of Franklin and Hogansville were married Feb. 6th but did not announce the marriage until Sunday, Feb. 14th, when Mr. Webb brought his bride to his lovely home at Corinth. The bridegroom is the son of the late Dr. and Mrs. L.B. Webb. His only brother is Dr. Roy L. Webb of Charleston, West Virginia. The bride is the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Sanders Formby. Her only sister is Mrs. O.M. Conrad of Atlanta. ____ ROCKALO Community News DIED - - Henry Pope of Carrollton, who had been a neighbor in the community several years ago, was buried at Macedonia last Saturday. The family has our sympathy. __ Mr. and Mrs. Bud Bryan announced the birth of a son Feb 4th. __ Watson Lancaster is back home again. He was given a discharge on account of bad health. __ HOME NEWS Mr. R.L. Cone, for some time with the FSA office, has entered the service. __ Pvt. Herschel Daniel, stationed at Butte, Mont., is at home on furlough with his mother, Mrs. H.D. Daniel __ Mr. Junior Pike, ship welder at Savannah, spent the weekend with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. J.A. Mrs. Duke moved away from this community only a short time ago. She was loved by everyone. ___ Word has been received by Mr. and Mrs. J.B. Eley that their son Hulete, has arrived safely in North Africa. __ Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Wright and children visited their parents, Mr. and Mrs. R.M. Turner. __ Austin Eley of Hogansville has been visting his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. J.B. Eley. __ WARESVILLE Community News J.H. Kitchens is improving after being confined to his room several weeks with a fractured ankle. __ Rev. Otis Fincher is improving in Roanoke hospital after a serious operation. __ Mrs. Charlie Cooper is visiting her daughter in Cincinnati, Ohio this week. __ Mr. and Mrs. J.T. Moore have a little son at their house who has been named J.T.
