Fincher of Potash, Ala. visited Mr. and Mrs. Hoyt Sheets on Sunday last. __ Mr. and Mrs. Lymon Welborn of LaGrange visited Mr. and Mrs. W.W. Welborn last weekend. __ DIED - - Uncle Billy Veal, formerly of his place, died in a Tifton hospital Sunday morning. The body was brought to the home of his daughter, Mrs. C.T. Sheets on Sunday night. Burial was at Liberty East, Ala., Monday p.m, with funeral services by Rev. W.H. Caldwell. __ Pvt. G.L. Noles of Camp White, Oregon, is expected home on account o fhis mother's illness. __ TRIBUTE to A. W. MITCHELL Bro. A. W. Mitchell, a member and past master of Loftin Lodge No. 688 F and A.M., was overtaken by death at his home near Loftin at 7 o'clock p.m. on March 10, 1943. He had been confined to his room and bed for several weeks prior to his death. He met death as a good soldier of jesus. Bro. Mitchell was raised to the subline degree of Master Mason in the above named Lodge in the year 1924. Bro. Mitchell loved Masonry and to his Lodge was a regular attendant when health permitted. He was Worshipful Master of his Lodge for a number of years. He was highly esteemed by his brethren. He will not only be missed by the brethren of the Lodge but by the community in which he lived. He spent most of his life in Heard County, an honest and upright Christian. He was a member of Ephesus Missionary Baptist Church. He was 66 years old. He is survived by his wife and one daughter, Mrs. Bell Culpepper of Bowdon, two grandchildren and one great grandchild. Funeral services were held in Ephesus church March 13th, with Revs. W.H. Caldwell and L.G. Rogers and T.J. Freeman, officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery. T.J. Freeman T.B. Wood R.A. Cater Lodge Committee ________________ HOME NEWS Mrs. B.F. Cagle is spending awhile with relatives in Greenville. __ Cpl. Alton Lane has received an honorable discharge from the army to take a job in defense. __ Though improved, editor P.T. McCutchen is still confined to his room, having been absent from his duties since March 6th. He has grown weary of enforced rest and hopes to be out again in a few days. __ CENTRALHATCHEE Community News Ptv. Merlin Simonton of Biloxi, Miss., visited his parents during his three day pass. Leamon Simonton was also home from camp in South Carolina. __ Miss Eunice Hannah married Mr. Claud Bell. The ceremony was performed at 5 o'clock on Saturday by Rev. Middlebrooks of LaGrange. _____ NEWSPAPER Issue of Friday, April 16, 1943 MT. PLEASANT Community News Hurrah for Burvil Arnett, who is in the army, who gave his mother and father a nice car which they appreciate very much. __ Bryon Kirk and family of Newnan, spent Saturday with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Hamp Kirk. We are glad to say that Mrs. Kirk is doing fine after suffering for over a year with rheumatism. __ Mr. and Mrs. Page of Atlanta spent Sunday with the latter's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Homer Kitchens. __ Alvin Davis of Akron, Ohio is visiting his mother, Mrs. Evie Davis and other relatives. __ LEGAL NOTICE - - Administration Georgia, Heard County W.B. Dean has in proper form applied to me for permanent letters of administration on the estate of Joe G. Dean, deceased, late of said county; this is to cite all and singular the creditors and next of kin of Joe G. Dean to be and appear at my office within the time allowed by law, and show cause if any they can, why permanent administration should not be granted to W.B. Dean on Joe G. Dean's estate. Ragle attended the funeral of Mrs. Charlies Vinson on Wednesday in Roanoke, Ala. __ Mrs. Sallie Norton of LaGrange is spending this week with Mrs. George E. Daniel. __ Mr. and Mrs. Winston Burdett and Larry of Fontana, N.C. spent the weekend with Mrs. H.E. Burdett and Mr. and Mrs. Carl Simonton. __ NEWSPAPER Issue of April 23, 1943 HOME NEWS Mr. and Mrs. Bob Burton, Atlanta, visited Mr. and Mrs. Ezra Heard on Sunday. __ Mrs. Minor Stephens left Friday to spend awhile with Mrs. Gay Awbrey in LaGrange. __ Pfc. Stephen H. McCutchens with the Air Corps, St. Petersburg, Florida, is at home on furlough with his parents who had not seen him since last September. __ Lieut. Guy Johnson of Harrisburg, Tenn., was at home this week. __ First Sgt. Robert Purgason of the Canal Zone, is spending a 20 day furlough with Mr. and Mrs. O.D. Purgason. __ Jesse B. Turner, a colored soldier, was killed by accident in Texas last week and was brought home for interment. __ Lucy Ann Scrivens, colored, beloved by everybody, died early Friday last, after an illness of about three weeks. She was in her late sixties, had spent a useful and saving life, leaving a nice little estate which she willed to various relatives. She had no children. __ NEWSPAPER Issue of Friday, April 30, 1943 ROCKALO Community News Mrs. C.E. Bryant continues seriously ill. __ Rev. C.G. Freeman and Mary Thaxton of LaGrange visited Mr. and Mrs. W.T. Thaxton last week. __ D.H. Thaxton and family of Newnan visited his parents Tuesday last. __ Mrs. Sallie Thaxton of Newnan visited Mrs. Mollie Hull and family Sunday last. __ HOME NEWS Flight Sgt. Luther Williamson who has spent some 15 months in active service overseas with numerous brave acts to his credit, is at home on furlough and will report at Salt Lake within a few days. Hosts of friends were glad to see him. __ Dr. and Mrs. T.W. Brock are the proud parents of a son. __ WARESVILLE Community News Mr. and Mrs. W.C.
