Traylor of Pine Camp New York was recently called to Newnan, GA on account of his father's illness. Mrs. Traylor joined him there on Tuesday. ___ Mr. Lee Edgeworth left Tuesday for the veterans hospital in Atlanta where he expects to remain for some weeks for treatment. __ Mr. W.P. Williamson has returned from the Panama Canal Zone where he has been engaged in defense work, and will spend awhile with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. W.F. Stephens from Miami, Florida are visitors here this week. __ Mrs. Carl Crouch and kids from Pine Mountain visited Mr. and Mrs. J.C. Crouch. __ Fred Middlebrooks, Horace Gamble and J. Oliver Jackson will soon leave for the Army. __ GLENN Community News Mrs. Ruby Whitley spent the weekend in Columbus. __ B.T. Minnick of LaGrange has been among her many Heard county relatives and friends the past week. __ The annual Stephens family reunion will be held at the home of Mr. H.B. Stephens near Centralhatchee on Monday. Family and friends are invited. __ Mrs. G.A. Adams has just received information that her nephew, Paratrooper Willis J. Daniel, has been injured in a southeastern war zone and was in the hospital. The extent of his injuries are not known. He recently received a purple heart. ___ J.E. Lane Jr. of Portsmouth, VA stopped by this week to visit his Aunt, Mrs. H.D. Daniel enroute to San Francisco to enter service in the merchant marine. __ FROLONA Community News Mrs. A.J. Gore and children visited Mr. and Mrs. Joe Stephens of Enon Grove last weekend. __ Mrs. Velma Lipham of Hogansville is visiting Mrs. Mary Lipham. __ Mrs. Roy Carter of LaGrange visited her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ben Johnson last weekend. __ Mr. and Mrs. Grace Snyder, Merrill Butler and Mrs. Lizzie Webb are visiting relatives on Sand Mountain, Ala. __ Sorry to report Mr. M.B. Traylor on the sick list. __ A severe electric storm passed through this community Thursday last. It struck the home of Mr. G.A. This 7th day of August 1943. Bernard Rayford Kent ___ NEWSPAPER issue of Friday, August 20, 1943 Mrs. J.M. Hurst, a former resident of Corinth community, was buried here Saturday. Mrs. Hurst was the former Miss Ruth Copeland and was reared here and spent most of her life near here. She is survived by three sons and three daughters and a number of grandchildren and one great grandchild. Services were held in Atlanta where Mrs. Hurst has resided since the death of her husband a number of years ago. ___ Mr. and Mrs. Jack L. Holley and little Jackie of Columbus spent the weekend with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. B.B. Blanks. __ Mr. and Mrs. Henry Busby of near Hogansville spent Sunday afternoon at I.E. Middlebrooks with the latter's grandfather, Mr. B.J. Parker who is very feeble in body and mind. ___ Merritt Mathews who is stationed in Oregon, spent the week with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Olin Mathews. __ The Stephens reunion is Sunday Aug 22nd and not Monday as inadvertantly printed last week, to be held at the home of Mr. Homer Stephens. __ Mr. M.W. Lipford carried Mr. J.A. Pike to the veterans hospital in Atlanta on Wednesday. Mr. Pike seems to be in serious shape. __ Mr. H.A. Jackson has received notice that his son Dewey is missing in action in the middle east. __ Mrs. M.T. Awbrey has been advised that a second brother, Dotty, has been missing since August 6th. That makes her second brother to be lost in the global war. Robert Whitley of Kearney, Neb., is at home for a few days. __ FROLONA Community News Mr. and Mrs. Earnest Smith and Mrs. Claud Dunlap and Junior of LaGrange visited Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Vaughan Sunday last. __ LOCAL NEWS, GOSSIP Mrs. Ephraim Hyatt, a former Heard countian, died at her home near Heflin, Alabama on Sunday last. She was the former Miss Alice King and she and her husband left Heard County in 1917. Many friends and relatives in Heard County will learn of her passing with deep regret. ___ Mr. C.J. Laster this week received a card from his son, Pfc. Ralph H. Laster, who had been missing since the fall of Corregidor, that he was safe and fairly well in a Japanese prison camp in the Philippines. ____ Mrs. George Schwant has returned from a months visit with her husband Lt. George Schwant of Baxter General Hospital, Spokane, Washington. Lt. Schwant was wounded in action on May 29th. They spent his furlough with their father, Mr. O.H. Schwant, Mandan, N.
