Ware of LaGrange spent Sunday with his father, Mr. A.Z. Ware. __ Mrs. Thelma Cook Price and daughters Peggy Ray and Anne, were the weekend guests of her Mrs. Price's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Chas. R. Cook. Pfc. Albert Blake Cook, who has served three and one half years overseas, is now at home on furlough with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. C.R. Cook. Pfc. Cook served two years in Iceland and he is now wearing two battle stars for service in Belgium and Germany. He also wears the A.T.O., the E.T.O., Pearl Harbor and the good conduct ribbon. __ CORINTH News Mr. Scott Davis, 88, died at his home near Corinth March 31st after a short illness. Mr. Davis was a member of an old established family in Troup County. He was prominent in his church, having served as an Elder in the Hogansville Presbyterian Church over a long period of years. In addition to his wife, who was the former Kate Craig, he is survived by two sons, Craig Davis of Atlanta and Boyd Davis of Hogansville. His daughters are Mrs. J.D. Parker of Atlanta, Mrs. John Marbut of Macon and Mrs. Robert Cook of Cooksville; also a number of grandchildren survive. Funeral services were held at the home Sunday afternoon conducted by the Rev. John Howard, a former pastor of his church, with burial at Hogansville. ___ Mrs. Tom Brazil, a former resident of Corinth, died recently at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Jack Stone, at Columbus, GA. Following funeral services held at the home, her body was brought to Corinth for burial beside her husband, who died a number of years ago. Mrs. Brazil was the former Elizabeth Grimes of the Welcome community. She was a loyal member of the Baptist church. Mrs. Brazil is survived by one son, Thomas Brazil who is in the service. Her daughters are Mrs. Mary Pursley of Fairburn and Mrs. Jack Stone of Columbus. Several grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. McKoy of Welcome also survive. Mr. and Mrs. Brazil were esteemed residents of Corinth for a long time. __ MIDDLEBROOK'S X-ROADS News Mr. Joe Cook is rapidly improving after being in a car wreck some weeks ago. __ Sorry to hear that Mrs. John Kitchens is under the weather from overwork at gardening in this spring weather. __ SALEM Community News A.J. Spradlin has his new house hulled in and will soon be moving into it. __ Our Sunday school at Salem is growing in leaps and bounds. If the old saints of Salem that have gone on before and now resting in the flowery hills of glory, such as Aunt Ann Thompson, Uncle Tom Potts, Uncle Niele Hardy, Aunt Mat Spradlin, Uncle Jim Hammond and Aunt Beck and many others we could mention, could speak from their graves they woudl say let's make Salem Sunday School the best in the county. On the 1st Sunday in May we're having a special day and don't want anybody to miss that. We are having a singing in memory of our loved ones who have passed away since the 1st of May last year. Then honorary singing for the boys in service. We have the promise of several quartet singers and we're hoping to make the day one of the best we ever had. _____ EPHESUS News Mr. and Mrs. Carl Hammond and Johny Will are now visiting in our community, having been called here due to the serious illness of their father, Mr. J.B. Hammond, who is in the Carrollton Clinic. __ Mrs. Wheeler Traylor and children of LaGrange, spent Easter with her mother, Mrs. Lovy Fincher and family. __ ROCKALO News Denson Yates and Mrs. Carrie Walls vehicles ran together with a little wreck, injuring Mrs. Walls right seriously and tearing up the Walls car. __ RIDGEWAY News Eugene and Harold Drummond of LaGrange visited their grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. M.B. Traylor last weekend. __ LOCAL News Mrs. Hugh Goodson received notice on Wednesday that her father Mr. W.R. Williams of College Park had a severe stroke with extreme high blood pressure and is completely disabled. __ SIMPSON News Mr. and Mrs. Bud Noles and Marie were the guests of Mr. and Mrs. Charlie White last Sunday. __ Mr. and Mrs. H.R. Heard, Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Arrington and children visited Mr. and Mrs. Charlie White last Sunday evening. __ NEWSPAPER Issue of Friday, April 13, 1945 CENTRALHATCHEE News Mack Street ws buried here Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock. He had been ill for some time. __ Mr. and Mrs. Albert Adams of Grantville spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. J.H. Parham. __ ROCKALO News Mrs. Paul George has been on the sick list. __ BURSON'S CROSS ROADS Mr. and Mrs. Cliff Jackson have our deepest sympathy in the death of their brother Bryant, who was killed in action overseas. __ SIMPSON News Miss Kate White was the guest of Miss Margaret Bozeman last Sunday. __ Mrs. Bill Gay of Rome, visited Mr. and Mrs. Ridley Cavender last sunday. __ We were glad to hear that Cobben Bozeman had returned to the states after spending several months overseas. __ HEARD COUNTY INDUCTEES THROUGH MONTH OF MARCH During the month of March, the following white men were accepted for service in the Army: Zellie Aronold Richardson Robert Irvin Rogers Charles Ennis Gore Johnnie Harold Jordan Tom Watson Cook William Banks Beacham Curtis William Shelnutt Robert Anderson Frost Clyde Bradley The following were accepted for service in the Navy: James Frederick Hunter Robert Quillian Gladney Tom Watson Levens Edward Tellace McClain James Allison Sheets Curtis Alvin Nation The following colored men were accepted for service in the Army in March: William Conley Jason Ransby Purce Daniel Charlie Edward Jones Artis C. Denney of Unity, who was wounded in France Dec. 2nd last, has been assigned to Ward 2 A at the Battey Hospital in Rome, GA, and was at home the past week, is receiving congratulations of many friends on his rapid recovery. ___ Sgt. Truitt Davis after several years in service and much of it overseas, is at home with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. R.E.
