COBSY DIES AT AGE OF 91 YEARS Mr. T.S. Cosby, 91, died at his home near town Tuesday afternoon about two o'clock, after his dinner hour and apparently in better shape than for weeks. He was one of the county's oldest and most beloved citizens, having lived here all of his life. He was a deacon in the Baptist church where the funeral was held Wednesday at 3 p.m., conducted by his pastor, Rev. E.B. Paris, directed by Lewis & Lipford, with interment in the City Cemetery, many friends and relatives attending to do homage to the aged citizen. Surviving are two sons, Ross of LaGrange and Carl Cosby of Albion, Michigan; one daughter, Mrs. W.S. Bilbrey of LaGrange; five grandchildren and two great grandchildren. ____ RIDGEWAY News Mrs. C.E. Burgess of Rockalo visited Mr. and Mrs. J.S. Burgess last weekend. __ Mr. and Mrs. W.Z. Noles visited Mrs. W.W. Welborn of Newnan Sunday last. __ Curtis Nation, U.S. Navy at Great Lakes, Ill., is visiting relatives here. __ Pfc. and Mrs. Lowell Lesley of Camp Howze, Texas, visited their parents, Mr. and Mrs. G.C Lesley last week, enroute to Fort Ord, California. __ EPHESUS News Mrs. Ada Haynes celebrated her 69th birthday on Sunday with all her children gathering at the old home place for the nice occasion. __ Pvt. Zeddie Richardson of Camp Shelby, Miss., was here on a short visit last week with his wife and children. __ Mrs. J.D. Jordan is visiting Mr. and Mrs. Olin Jordan in Columbus. __ Alvin Culpepper and Miss Audrey South were married recently. __ Pvt. James Burks of Camp Wheeler was here to spend the weekend with home folks. __ Mrs. Tempest Blanks has received news that her husband has returned to the States and will be home soon to greet his wife and little daughter Judy Ann whom he's never seen. __ CENTRALHATCHEE News Mrs. Luther Shelnutt underwent an operation in an Atlanta hospital one day last week and is doing fine. __ Mrs. Lee Shadrix and Barbara are visiting Mr. and Mrs. H.W. White. __ Mr. and Mrs. Homer Bussey have had a letter from Pvt. Jep Bussey, who has been liberated from a German prison camp. __ Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Webb have news from Edward Webb of the Army that he is on his way home. __ Mrs. Miles Brown is visiting Mrs. Ben Jackson. __ J.W. Duke of the Army, is home from overseas and visiting relatives here. __ SIMPSON News Mrs. Marchie WHite and Jereleene are visiting Mr. and Mrs. Bud Noles for a few days. __ We are sorry to hear that Mrs. Lula Hardy is sick. __ Mrs. Minnie Mae Brazeal visited Mr. and Mrs. Charlie White last Sunday. __ ROCKALO News Mr. Terman Ackers from a Roanoke hospital, has returned home with much improvement. __ Mrs. Allie Thaxton has been seriously ill but slightly improved. __ NEWSPAPER Issue of Friday, June 15, 1945 J.F. THORNTON DIED SATURDAY JUNE 2nd J.F. Thornton died at his home at Centralhatchee Saturday night June 2nd at the age of 68. He is survived by his wife and five children; W.D. Thornton of Brunswick; Price Thornton of Dallas; Terrell Thornton of Carrollton; Sybil Thornton of Atlanta and Mrs. E.B. Cox of Bowdon. Funeral services were conducted at Caney Head church near Centralhatchee Monday afternoon at 3 o'clock with the Rev. Gordon Willingham officiating. Music was in charge of G.W. Barker. ______ LOCAL News Messrs. J.C. and James Lee, employees of the Bell Bomber Plant at Marietta, were at home for the weekend. __ The many friends of Mrs. J.J. Arrington regret to learn of her continued illness but glad to learn that she appears to be improving. __ Mrs. Jim Bohler spent the weekend in Atlanta with Mr. and Mrs. Harry Hiebruegge. __ EPHESUS News Miss Mary Harris and Mr. Wayne Prince were married Saturday p.m. __ Mr. W.A. Daniel is in very feeble health. __ SIMPSON News Messrs. Hollis Arrington and Nevin Hyatt are leaving for service June 15th. __ Miss Novis Davis got married last Saturday night to Douglas Johnson of Roosterville. __ Mrs. C.H. Arrington and Mrs. Lucile Hardy and children visited Mr. and Mrs. William Arrington last Sunday. __ CENTRALHATCHEE News Jep Bussey of the Army arrived home last week, after spending several months in a German prison camp. __ Mr. and Mrs. S.R. Heard and Mr. and Mrs. Joe McWaters of Newnan were Sunday visitors of Mr. and Mrs. J.A. Kent. __ Pvt.
