Daughter, Mrs. Elsie Davis _______ WARESVILLE News All of Mrs. Ida Arnett's children gave her a surprise birthday dinner on Sunday. __ Mrs. Emory Dennis also had the pleasure of having all her children present to celebrate her birthday last Sunday. __ Mr. and Mrs. Elton Middlebrooks and Joyce, and Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Whitley will leave the 9th of June for an extended visit to Los Angeles, San Francisco, Grand Canyon and other places of interest. __ Hazel Lucas has been sick but is better. __ RIDGEWAY News Mrs. Avery Veal and children of Sargent spent last week with Mr. and Mrs. John Harvell. __ Mrs. Wade Arnett and Sue of Anniston, Ala., visited Mrs. Minnie Arrington and relatives last week. __ Mr. Wilson Rogers has gone to Emory Hospital in Atlanta for treatment. __ Mr. and Mrs. Bob Davis of Atlanta, visited their father, Mr. Billie Arrington Sunday last. __ Mrs. Charles Arrington and baby of Daytona Beach, Fla., are visiting Mr. and Mrs. Grady Arrington and family. ___ GLENLOCH News Mr. and Mrs. C.M. Ray had a happy reunion of the family, Ralph and Gladys of Newnan; John from LaGrange; Travis from Centralhatchee; Mrs. Thompson of glenloch and Calvin just home from the Pacific. It's the first time they've all been together in three years. ___ Visitors of Mr. and Mrs. Bob Folds were their son Cliff and wife, Mr. Judson Caldwell of Newnan and Mr. and Mrs. John Robinson of Atlanta. __ Abiline Folds visited her brother Austin and wife in Columbus this weekend. __ Mr. and Mrs. Will Harper had as their visitors Sunday, Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Harper and family, Mr. and Mrs. Godon Bishop, all of Bremen, and Mr. and Mrs. Dalton Harper and family of Arnco. __ VICTORY Community News Mr. and Mrs. Bobby Gore spent the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Gosdin at Centralhatchee. __ Mr. Walter Harry and family spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. J.E. Cook. __ Mr. and Mrs. W.H. Golden, and Mr. and Mrs. Byrd Gore visited Mr. and Mrs. W.W. Jones on Sunday. __ Mr. and Mrs. H.H. Arrington spent Sunday with Mr. Frank Caswell and family. __ We will meet at Prospect on Saturday afternoon June 1st to clean off the cemetery. Sunday will be homecoming at Prospect. Everybody is invited to come and enjoy the day together. ___ LAST RITES HELD SUNDAY FOR MR. JOE E. McWATERS Funeral services for Joe E. McWaters, well known Newnan resident who succumbed unexpectedly at his home on Temple Avenue, Friday, May 17th, were conducted Sunday afternoon at 3 o'clock from the First Baptist Church, with the Rev. P.J. McLean, the Rev. E.D. Rudisill and the Rev. J.E. Hannah officiating. A native of Heard County, Mr. McWaters had lived in Newnan for the past thirty years, and was employed by the city during most of that time. He was a member of the local police force for a long number of years and for nine years served as Chief of the Police Department. For the past few years he has served as the city superintendant of the Sanitary Department. He was an active member of the First Baptist Church and of the Baracca Sunday School class. He is survived by his wife, the former Miss Freddie Ashley; and one daughter, Mrs. Bill Doster of Newnan; two sisters, Mrs. F.H. Callahan, LaFayette, Ala., Mrs. C.C. Simonton, Pampa, Texas; one brother R.L. McWaters, Newnan and several nieces and nephews. Interment was in Oak Hill Cemetery, and pallbearers were D.T. Manget Sr., Carl Robertson, N.E. Walls, A.L. Fuller, Cauley Hayes, James W. Spradlin, J.M. Bryant and J.P. Atchison. _______ SIMPSON Community News Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Moody and family of Cullman, Ala., were the weekend guests of her parents, Mr. an Mrs. J.J. Hardy. __ Mrs. Luna Chatman spent the weekend with her daughter Mrs. Dolphus Craven. __ Mrs. Willie Daniel and children spent the weekend with her mother, Mrs. Walt Bozeman. __ Mr. Henry Todd was bit on the face by a horse as he was looking into his mouth. It took nine stitches to sew up the gash above his eye. __ EPHESUS News Mr. W.L. Rogers continues very low at his home. All his children remain at his bedside. __ Mr. and Mrs. Mige Mitchell and children of Sand Mountain, Ala., and Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Cox and daughter of Butler, Florida were visiting relatives here the weekend and attended memorial services at Sardis on Sunday. __ Mrs. L.M. Yates plans to undergo a face and nose operation in LaGrange hospital the latter part of the week. Her many friends wish her much success with it. __ LOCAL News Mrs. J.L. Daniel visited Mr. and Mrs. Frank Butler in Americus the past week. __ Mrs. Cynthia Oswald of Greenville visited Mrs. B.F.
