PLEASANT News We are glad to say Mrs. J.T. Nelms is doing very well after losing her son, Isam. She is staying with her daughter, Mrs. Homer Kitchens. ___ Mr. and Mrs. John Cooper of Roanoke, Ala., spent Sunday with the latter's sister, Mrs. I.S. Middlebrooks and family. ___ Jessie Arnett is suffering a great deal with asthma this week. He and family visited their daughter, Mrs. Grady O'Neal and family in Shawmutt, Ala., Sunday last. __ Our good friend John D. Wood of Russellville, Ala., gave us a short visit one day last week. He will be remembered as the man that married Rufus Smith's widow, Minnie. It was the first time we had seen him in thirty years. ___ Mrs. Pet Combs and daughter Vera, with Rev. Crankford and wife and three sons, all of LaGrange, spent Sunday afternoon with Mr. and Mrs. I.E. Middlebrooks. ___ EPHESUS News James Burke has recently arrived home from overseas after spending several months in the Philippine Islands. This community has a good many boys serving overseas. __ Mrs. Jim Burgess is doing fine after an operation in the Roanoke Hospital and will soon return home. Her friends wish her a speedy recovery. __ Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Robinson and baby of LaGrange, visited Mr. Jessie Denney and family this weekend. __ LOCAL News Mr. Paul Robinson's mother remains sick. Those visiting them Sunday were Mrs. Fannie Brooks of Rome; Mrs. S.T. Brown, Mrs. John Eaves and children, also Mr. J.R. Bush of Bremen, the latter being Mrs. Paul Robinson's school teacher years ago. ___ Mrs. J.W. Elmore of Atlanta spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. W.C.
