Several have been having fresh vegetables right from their gardens in late November. Mrs. Alonzo Payton states their family had fresh strawberries and tomatoes for Thanksgiving dinner. Mr. L.M. Rogers and Mr. Jet Frost and families have been eating fresh beans from their garden, also some other families. __ The many friends of Mrs. Bonnie Woods will be glad to know she is doing fine after undergoing an operation at the Bowdon Hospital last week. She will soon return home. __ This community feels rather proud of Miss Opal Rogers who was crowned Miss Milky Way and awarded the Silver Loving Cup in the milking contest at the Little International Livestock show held on the campus of the University of Georgia at Athens, recently. __ Mr. and Mrs. Wilson Green of Waverly Hill were up to spend the Thanksgiving holidays with homefolks. __ Mr. Jet Frost is under treatment of a doctor in Atlanta. __ Doyle Martin who has been in service in Germany has arrived home, to the pleasure of his family and friends. __ Mr. Troy Daniel is sick at this writing. __ WARESVILLE News, by Mrs. Elton Middlebrooks Think it's time for all correspondents to wish for our beloved editor McCutchen a speedy recovery and a healthy, happy christmas. We miss him when passing through Franklin. Words are not great enough to say how much we folks of Heard County appreciate him and his cooperation as editor and as a good citizen. He has done his part; for myself I wish for him and family the best wishes of health and happiness. __ Our community was shocked by the death of our former mail carrier for twenty five years, Mr. Luther Stitt, who died from a heart attack. HIs wife had a light stroke but is improving. __ Mr. and Mrs. J.H. Kitchens had three of their children and their families with them on Thanksgiving. __ Mr. and Mrs. Buren Mooney of Newnan are the proud grandparents, as a son was born to their daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Long. __ Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Bennett have moved to Texas. __ Mr. and Mrs. Jim L. Jackson have returned from a visit to South Carolina. __ Mrs. Kate Williamson is visiting her son in Savannah. __ CENTRALHATCHEE News Mrs. Mather Hyatt left Monday for Germany. __ Mr. and Mrs. Maynard Spruill of LaGrange and Mr. Lewis Spruill of Atlanta, were the guests of Mr. and Mrs. Arch Nutt during the weekend. __ Mr. and Mrs. Fred Davison spent the weekend with her parents near Chamlee. __ Mr. Oliver Modisette who has been stationed in Arizona, visited Mr. and Mrs. B.M. Modisette last week. He will leave for China soon. __ Mr. and Mrs. Junior Key and children of Moreland spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Young Merrill. __ Mrs. Minnie Echols of Carrollton spent the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Robert Merrill. __ Mr. and Mrs. Cyril Lanier have moved to Carrollton where they plan to make their home. __ LOCAL News Henry Tucker, 72, well known negro, died at his home near Pearidge a few days ago. He came here from Troup County 48 years ago and was held in high esteem by both white and colored. __ Mrs. A.C. Manley and small son of Roanoke, Ala., are visiting their mother and grandmother, Mrs. M.L. George for several days. __ WELCOME Community News Mr. Neil Jackson who has been in the Merchant Marines several months returned to the home of his parents last week. __ NEWSPAPER Issue of Friday, December 13, 1946 GLENN Community News, by Sara Starnes Recently, Mrs. John Crouch had the privilege of having her first great grandchild, John Chrispin Jackson, come to see her. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Oliver Jackson of Waresville. Chris, as he is going to be called, is a fat boy with dark eyes and much dark hair. We are proud of the little boy and I just know Dad would be proud of another John - - his name was John, too. Walter Wilson, who has recently come home from his baseball playing, has bought a new Pontiac. She is a beauty. Walter, as I told you last year, has purchased the I.Q. Adams farm. He plans to farm the land or have it done. He is making much preparation to farm. Elton, his returned soldier brother, is also making preparations to do big farming next year. One could not plan a better thing since the farmer is hte hand feeding the world. ___ EPHESUS News Mrs. Bill Martin underwent an operation at the Bowdon Hospital last week. Arrington of Springfield, Ala., Sunday last. __ LOCAL News Mr. and Mrs. Joe Johnson, Mrs. Sarah Evans and Mrs. R.R. Baugh of Greenville, spent Sunday with Mrs. Ada V. Cagle. __ Mrs. Hoyt Mann and children of Norfolk, VA are visiting Mr. and Mrs. Staunton Adams. __ Mrs. Ezra Heard is visiting relatives in Atlanta. __ P.T. McCutchen Jr. was here Tuesday to visit his father. __ Mr. J. Ed Wright, 77, died at his home in Carrollton on Friday night last. The body was brought to Franklin for interment beside his wife, who preceded him 14 years ago. He resided many years in Heard County. He is survived by four sons and three daughters, none of whom reside here. __ FOR SALE - - Fancy fryers, fresh eggs.
