Daniel, Roy and Inda Danile visited Mrs. Heflin Daniel in the City- County Hospital in LaGrange Sunday. She recently had an operation and is now suffering from an attack of pneumonia. __ Mrs. Molly Yates is visiting her daughter Mrs. Buren Rogers and family. __ Mr. Clinton Loftin arrived at home Saturday from the Pacific to the delight of his family and friends. __ Those visiting Mrs. Beulah Daniel last week were: Mrs. Nancy Brown, Miss Colie Rogers, Mrs. Pierce Hester, Mrs. E.V. Kelly, Mrs. Mae Prince, Mrs. Frank Rogers, Mrs. Buren Rogers, Mrs. Maybelle Loftin, Mr. and Mrs. J.B. Hammonds, Mrs. Clyde Robinson and Mrs. L.M. Daniel. She wishes to say each visit and all the nice cards and gifts she has received has been highly appreciated. It helps the suffering to know someone is thinking about them during their affliction. __ MT. PLEASANT News The many friends of Mr.and Mrs. Mattie Kirk will b sorry to know that she is seriously sick in Roanoke, Ala. at her daughter's, Mrs. Era Kitchens. We wish for her a speedy recovery. __ Mr. and Mr. Edward Harris are the proud parents of a fine ten pound boy born in LaGrange hospital January 3rd. __ WELCOME Community News Mr. and Mrs. Hall Caswell spent several days last week with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J.H. Neighbors. Mrs. Caswell and Mrs. Neighbors visited Mr. and Mrs. L.L. Denney and Mrs. Carrie Smith. __ NEWSPAPER issue of Friday, January 24, 1947 FORMER SLAVE, AGE 107, DIES AT ROOPVILLE Funeral services for a 107 year old Carroll County negro was held at the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church on Saturday. "Uncle' Abe Bonner attributed his long life to his daily plug of tobacco. He was a former slave who was born on the present site of West Georgia College. Relatives said he had been in excellent health until last May when he "had to take it easy on his farming and rest up some." "Uncle' Abe, until a few years ago used to take frequent walks to Carrollton to purchase tobacco. ___ EPHESUS News Mr. W.O. Daniel continues in very feeble health. __ Mrs. Vera Huddleston is spending a few days with her mother near Tyus, who continues ill. __ We want to welcome back into our community, Mr. Robert Redden, who has been in South Carolina for about a year. __ LOCAL News Mr. Mose Foster, age 69, died at LaGrange, January 15, 1947. Funeral services were held at the Methodist Church at Franklin with Brother J.A. Adams officiating. He was buried at Mt. Pleasant. __ Mr. and Mrs. E.C. Etchison of Fairfax, Ala., spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. W.M. Paschal. __ Mrs. Elizabeth Arrington, 82 years old, died January 15, 1947 and was buried at Enon Grove Church. She is survived by eight living children. She had 60 grandchildren, 90 great grandchldren and 5 great great grandchildren. _____ NEWSPAPER issue of Friday, January 31, 1947 J.M. ROBARDS PASSES Mr. James M. Robards, age 81, died Sunday morning at 3 o'clock at his residence on Franklin, Rt. 3. He is survived by one son, W.C. Robards, one brother, W.A. Robards and a host of friends. He was a member of Ephesus Baptist church. Funeral rites were held Monday at 2 o'clock p.m. at Macedonia Baptist Church. Rev. Guy Rogers assited by Rev. J.L. Bryant, music by J.L. Bledsoe. Interment was in the church yard. Lewis and Lipford were directors. ____ CENTRALHATCHEE News Mrs. Harvie Lee McWaters of Hogansville spent last week with Mr. and Mrs. J.L. Eley. __ EPHESUS News Uncle Jim Robards, age 81, a faithful member of the Ephesus church, passed away Sunday. He was a righteous man and will be missed much by his church and all that knew him. The family have our sincere sympathy. __ Mr. and Mrs. Brewer Burson, and Mr. and Mrs. Denzel Williams visited Mrs. Jack Burson who is quite ill in Roanoke, Ala., on Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Willams are spending awhile with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Burson. __ Mr. and Mrs. Joe Laster of near Mt. Pleasant visited Mrs. C.J. Laster and Render on Sunday. __ Mr. and Mrs. Bryant Duke of Fairfax, Ala., visited Mr. and Mrs. L.M. Daniel and family last weekend. __ Mr. and Mrs. Ezra Frost were the Sunday night guests of Mr. and Mrs. Will Huddleston. __ WELCOME Community News Mr. and Mrs. Homer Shirey of Newnan and Mr. and Mrs. Leon Bailey of Columbus visited relatives here Sunday. __ Mr. and Mrs. T.A.
