He was clerk of the City of Newnan and was a trusted and valued citizen. The people of Heard County will be grieved to learn of his death. ___ WELCOME Community News We the people of Welcome community were so very sad to hear of the death of our dear Editor, Mr. P.T. McCutchen. He was a very wonderful man will will be greatly missed, by all who knew him. __ Mr. L.L. Denney continues to be seriously ill at his home. His children from LaGrange, Arnco, Carrollton and other places have been with him the last week. __ Mr. T.C. Johnson has been ill at his home several days. __ Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Crockett, Mr. and Mrs. Lenord King and son, and Mr. Hubert Crocket of Columbus, spent Sunday with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. P.W. Crockett. __ Mr. and Mrs. Gay Shelnutt have recently moved to Centralhatchee where he is teaching. __ CENTRALHATCHEE News Mr. and Mrs. Gay Shelnutt have moved into this community from Mableton, GA. __ Miss Essie Mae Strickland has returned from Baltimore, Maryland where she has been studying to Crawford, Long Hospital in Atlanta to continue her nurses training. __ Mrs. Al Adams of Lumber CIty and MRs. John Colley of Atlanta spent several days last week with Mrs. Laura Hardy and Martha Bennie. __ There were two funerals here last week. Mrs. Rufus Jackson of Arnco was buried Friday afternoon. Mr. Norman Pike of LaGrange was buried on Thursday. __ CAMPGROUND News Mrs. Blake Hall who has been very sick is much improved to the delight of her family and friends. __ Mrs. R.E. Davis spent several days last week with her son Newman and family near Glenn community. __ Messrs. Lonnie Minnick and Hubert Russen spent Monday with Harvey Nelms of Franklin. __ The many friends of Mrs. A.C. Minnick will hate to know she is still in bed and can't get up without help. We are sorry for any one that is deprived of all of life's pleasures by being shut in. __ Mr. and Mrs. Edward Davis have moved into our community. __ EPHESUS News First, we wish to extend to the McCutchen family our sincere sympathy in the passing of their loved one. Heard County has lost one of its most useful citizens. __ Mr. Hulett Prince is in the Veterans Hospital 48 in Atlanta for treatment. __ Mr. Jackie Mitchell is in the Bowdon Hospital where he underwent a leg operation. __ Mrs. Will Huddleson and Mr. Troy Daniel are sick at this writing. __ Friends of Mrs. Nancy Brown and Mr. Dorsey Brown and family sympathize with them in the death of their mother and grandmother, Mrs. West Hanner, who passed away in LaGrange on Saturday. __ Mr. and Mrs. John Miles of Columbus visited Mr. and Mrs. William Miles here last week. __ Miss Dora Lee Wright, age 25, was buried here Tuesday afternoon of last week. She was born and reared in this community but had lived in Bowdon for the last several years. The family has our sympathy. __ Mr. and Mrs. Jean Tragasser of Athens, Mr. and Mrs. J.F. Ferrel of Marietta and Miss Lewellyn Pope of West Georgia College spent the easter holidays with their mother, Mrs. Alba Pope. __ SIMPSON Community News, by Mrs. T.E. Bailey Our sincere sympathy is extended to Mr. McCutchen's family in the passing away of Mr. McCutchen. We knew him as a great friend of Heard County and feel that he is going to be greatly missed. May God bless his son as he follows in Dad's footstep and carries on his great work. __ We are especially glad to report that the oldest people in our community are improving after an attack of the flu; Mrs. Jim Parham, Mr. J.B. Pope and Mrs. Frank Johnson. __ MT. PLEASANT News Mr. and Mrs. Idus Middlebrooks of LaGrange spent Sunday afternoon with home folks. __ Mrs. Michael Toney of Jacksonville, Fla., spent several days last week with her parents, Mr .and Mrs. Olin Mathews. __ Our good friend Mr. Robert Combs of Carrollton spent one afternoon and a night very pleasantly with Mr. and Mrs. I.E. Middlebrooks. __ Mr. and Mrs. Homer Kitchens celebrated their birthdays together Sunday, he being 70 on Saturday and Sunday was her 48th. They have 6 daughters married. Mrs. Mary Lou Harrington of Hogansville; Mrs. Ethel Lee Poge of Atlanta; Mrs. Zora Mae Toney of Chipley; Mrs. Marie Hogg of Hamilton; Mrs. Rogell, of LaGrange; Mrs. Katie Sue Kirk of Franklin., all joined in and had two large birthday cakes cooked, one with 70 candles and one with 48. There was a large crowd and such a good dinner they did have. They both received nice presents. ____ LOCAL News Mr. L.L.
