J.C. Sims on Saturday, June 25th, at two o'clock. Miss Phyllis Lee and Mr. L.C. Jones were the atttendants. She wore powder blue and black accessories. She is a graduate of Franklin High School and Perry Business School. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. R.C. Jones of Franklin. The groom is the son of Mrs. Lillie Romanowicz. He was in the service for three years, two of them being overseas. _____________ LOCAL NEWS Mr. Edward Davis of Franklin was the first one to being ina cotton bloom this season. He reports having a good stand of cotton. He is the son of Mr. R.E. Davis of Franklin. ___ CENTRALHATCHEE News Mrs. Charles Reed of Alamo, Texas is visiting her mother, Mrs. M.E. Wyatt. ___ Mr. Carter Jackson who has been in the Coast Guard is home now with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Bennie Jackson. ___ Mrs. Ike Williamson has been visiting her daughters, Mrs. Herman Bishop of Atlanta and Mrs. Jack Millans of Newnan. __ Mr. and Mrs. J.E. Faver of Atlanta were guests of Mrs. Laura Hardy on Friday and Saturdy of last week. __ Mrs. Gwyn Dixon of Rock Springs, Texas was visiting relatives here last week. __ Mr. and Mrs. J.L. Eley spent Sunday in Hogansville with Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Lee McWaters. __ Mrs. Charlie Montgomery had the misfortune of breaking her arm last Thursday. __ Mrs. Henry Prince underwent an operation at LaGrange Hospital last week. __ Mr. and Mrs. Leemon Simonton of Carrollton were guests of Mr. and Mrs. Condie Simonton on Sunday. __ Miss Clema Spruill of Carrollton is spending her vacation with her mother, Mrs. J.A. Nutt. __ Mrs. Pitman Turner of Carrollton spent the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Robert Turner. __ Mr. Lamar Stallings is visiting his parents, Mr. and Mrs. C.A. Stallings. __ WARESVILLE News Waresville might get on the map yet. Mr. Alfred from Tennessee, who is a licensed geologist, says that there is oil here. He will begin drilling in a few days. A good many have leased their land and everyone seems very much interested. __ Mrs. Alma Cavender is improving after being sick several weeks. __ Mr. J.L. Pritchett is also improving. Mr. Pritchett, though blind, is still jolly and says that his only trouble is enjoying the visits of his many friends. __ Mrs. J.W. Wood from Langdale, who is getting up in age, is still very jolly and has been spending several weeks with Mr. and Mrs. Pritchett. __ Buck Golden is able to be out and around after breaking his arm and this week had to carry Randall, his little boy, to the hospital suffering with appendicitis. __ Mr. and Mrs. Claud Kitchen from South Carolina are spending their vacation with Mr. and Mrs. Bud Middlebrooks. __ Mr. Amos Barnes continues to have spells with his heart but is able to be up. __ Mrs. Gertrude Wingo is spending a while with her sisters, Mrs. J.H. Kitchens and Mrs. Grover Middlebrooks. __ CAMPGROUND Community News Mrs. A.C. Minick is not doing so well. Her condition is weakening. __ Mrs. C.T. Turner and son Bobby are visiting Mr. and Mrs. Durward Duke this week at Augusta, GA. __ Mrs. A.J. Jones and Teloa of Newnan were the guests of Mrs. Jones' sister, Mrs. Minick, on Sunday last. __ Mr. and Mrs. Luna Minick of Carrollton were the Sunday guest of his mother, Mrs. Minick. __ Bruce Davis spent last week in LaGrange with the family of his sister, Mrs. Rodney Cooley. __ WELCOME Community News Mrs. Willie Crockett and children spent Sunday with Mrs. J.W. Gentry and family. __ Mr. Merrill is confined to his bed most all time and appreciates his friends and neighbors visiting him. __ Miss Irine Poppham spent Saturday night with Miss Wilma Jean Farmer. __ MT. PLEASANT News Well, after so long a time they tore down old Mt. Pleasant Church last week, got the road machine and graded off the place where the old one stood and the yards, so today they are laying the foundation for the new one. ___ The many friends of Mary Ellen Arnett of Auburn College will be sorry to know she is at home with rheumatic fever. __ LOCAL News Mr. and Mrs. H.E. Sheets are spending some time in Austin, Texas with Mr. and Mrs. Howe Dickson. __ Mrs. J.L. Daniel is spending awhile in Charlotte, N.C. with her sister, Mrs. J.W. Daniel, who is in the hospital there. __ Mr. Curtis Hammond of Newnan visited Mr. W.R. Jones and family on Sunday. This is the first time Curtis has been up and able to ride since the 27th of August last year when he fell from a 70 foot tower breaking his back and crushing his feet. He is having operations soon so that he may be able to walk again. __ Mrs. Coe Jones attended the funeral of Mr. B.D. Brooks Sr. at Wadley, Ala. on Monday. __ NEWSPAPER Issue of Friday, July 18, 1947 EPHESUS News Mr. W.A. Daniel is in a very feeble condition. His children have been visiting him at the home of his daughter Mrs. Lovey Lincher. __ Mrs. J.D. King returned home last Friday from the LaGrange hospital, where she has been for several weeks. Her friends and neighbors wish for her a speedy recovery. __ Mrs. Fannie Robinson has recently returned from an extended visit to her daughter Mrs. Owbery Broom and family of Goodwater, Ala. ___ MRS. JOHN ALDERMAN Jr., HONORED AT SHOWER and TEA One of the loveliest affairs of the season was the shower tea given by Mrs. Coe Jones on Saturday afternoon from three to six, honoring Mrs. John H. Alderman Jr., a recent bride. The home was beautifully decorated for the occasion with vari-colored summer flowers. Miss Phyllis Lee, Mrs. John Alderman Jr., Mrs. R.C. Jones and Mrs. Felix Romanowicz formed the receiving line. Miss Jean Lee kept the bride's book. A variety of dainty sandwiches, nuts and individual embossed cakes were served from the beautifully appointed table overlaid with a lace cloth. Miss Ann Wilson presided at the punch bowl and was assited by Misses Sue Walton and Carol Jones. _________ Home coming will be held at Mr. Pleasant Church the fourth Sunday in July, July 27th. Everbody is invited to come and bring a well filled basket. Be sure to come and help clean off the church yard and cemetery on Wednesday before Home Coming and if it rains, come Thursday. Rev. L.S. Hunter ___ MR. B.R. HAM FUNERAL RITES HELD TUESDAY Mr. B.R. Ham, age 70, well known Heard County farmer, died suddenly on Sunday afternoon at his home in Centralhatchee. He served for many years on the School Board of Centralhatchee High School and had a large part in church and civic work. He is surved by Mrs. J.K. Brown, mrs. J.V. Goodner, Mrs. R.W. Little, Verne and Zane Ham. He was buried at Bethel Church beside his wife who preceded him a few years ago. His funeral was held at Centralhatchee Baptist Church on Tuesday afternoon. Lewis & Lipford were funeral directors in charge. ____ CAMPGROUND News Mrs. Noah Aderhold of near Carrollton, Mrs. Leonard Hall and two sons and daughters of Bowdon were the Sunday guests of their Aunt, Mrs. A.C.Minick, whom we are sorry to say is not doing as well as she has been. __ Mrs. Freeman Davis and children spent last week with Mr. and Mrs. R.E. Davis. __ Mrs. Ona Harris, who has been visiting children and relaties at LaGrange and Villa Rica, is now making her home with her Aunt, Mrs. Minick. __ Those visiting Mrs. Minick on Sunday afternoon were Mrs. Alma Cavender and children of Waresville, Mrs. Vera Gilley and children of LaGrange, Mrs. Lois Suddles and children of Roanoke, Ala., Mrs. Jeff Davis and Mrs. Blake Hall near Mt.Pleasant. __ Mr. and Mrs. Lee Wade and brother R.L. Brooks are spending some time at Alto, FA with their mother Mrs. Brooks. __ WELCOME Community News Mrs. Ella Johnson was ill the past week but is much better. __ Mr. W.W. Brown has been in declining health a long time. __ Mrs. D.E. Griffin and children spent Sunday with her mother Mrs. Ethel Hannah. __ Mr. and Mrs. Sam Hutchens and sons visited Mr. and Mrs. W.F. Merrell Sunday afternoon. __ Mrs. Lizzie Gray has been with her daughter Mrs. Ella Mae Young, who has been quite ill the past few days. __ LOCAL News Mrs. J.L. Daniel recently returned from Charlotte, N.C. and reports Mrs. J.W. Daniel improving after being critically ill in a hospital there. __ Mrs. Kyle Tompkins and Gale are spending some time as guests of relatives in Fayetteville, N.C. __ Dr. Blue Daniel of Hogansville visited Mrs. Sallie Lane on Sunday. __ Mrs. Ed Settles has returned to Hopkinsville, Kentucky after spending two weeks with Mr. and Mrs. W.M. Paschal. __ Mrs. H.E.
