SCOTT DAVIS, 80, BURIED AT HOGANSVILLE Mrs. Scott Davis, eighty years of age, died at her home near Corinth on Wednesday night after a long illness. A member of the pioneer Craig family of Troup County, Mrs. Davis was born and reared and lived most of her life near Corinth. The former Miss Kate Craig, she was noted as a beauty and belle in her youth. She is survived by one son, Boyd Davis of Hogansville, three daughters, Mrs. John ?? (newspaper smudged, can't read it), Mrs. Jerry D. Parker ? of Atlanta and Mrs. Robert Cook of Cooksville. She leaves quite a number of grandchildren. Funeral services were held at the Presbyterian Church in Hogansville Friday afternoon with the Rev. George Smith pastor of the church officiating. One of the most faithful members of this church since her youth, Mrs. Davis will be greatly missed by the whole membership, as well as by her friends and family. She leaves her family the rich heritage of a cultured, christian woman. _____ MISS MAHAYLEY LANCASTER DONATES PROCEEDS OF CARNIVAL TO FRANKLIN SCHOOL One of the most thrilling and exciting events of the Halloween Carnival, held Friday night at Franklin Gymnasium, was fortune telling by Miss Mahayley Lancaster. This gave all a thrill who had the pleasure of having their fortunes told. Miss Mahayley so graciously gave her time to come and be with us Friday night. We were also happy to have her sister with us. Hill returned to her home in Akron, Ohio last Friday after spending several days here with relatives and friends. __ The friends of Mrs. Olin O'Neal will be glad to know that she has returned to her home from Bonner's Hospital. __ Mr. and Mrs. Dock Kirby of Rock Mills, Ala., visited their parents Mr. and Mrs. C.D. Yarbrough in Glenn community last Sunday. __ Mr. and Mrs. Richard Smitz returned to Michigan after spending two weeks with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. T.J. Whitley. __ Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Golden have moved into the home with the latter's parents, Mr. and Mrs. O.N. O'Neal. __ LOCAL News Mr. and Mrs. Coe Jones and children attended the Gorman - Witcher wedding in Atlanta on Saturday. __ The many friends of Mr. Brewer Lane will regret to learn that he is ill and in the Newnan Hospital. __ Mrs. M.J. Stephens has returned from a visit with Mr. and Mrs. Joe Stephens in Enon Grove. __ Mr. and Mrs. Fred L. Heard of North Carolina spent last week with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. H.R. Heard. __ The friends in Heard County of Mr. Howard Glover and his family were grieved to learn of his untimely death.
