He had a stroke on Saturday night and was rushed to the Newnan Hospital. Mr. Echols was 57 years old. He was the son of the late Walter Ross Echols and Sallie Lane Echols. He was a member of the Franklin Methodist Church and the Masonic Lodge of Centralhatchee. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon from the Franklin Methodist Church with Rev. J.C. Adams conducting the service. His body was interred at the Franklin Cemetery. The Centralhatchee Lodge was in charge of the grave service. He is survived by three sisters, Mrs. Roscoe Williams and Mrs. Joe Wyatt both of Franklin, and Mrs. Glenn Scoggins of Newnan; two brothers, Walter R. and John Echols, both of Franklin. He had many friends and relatives who join the immediate family in their grief. ___ MR. JOHN ROBINSON PASSES AT CORINTH HOME MONDAY Mr. John Robinson, a highly esteemed citizen, died at his home near Corinth on Monday, November 24th, after an illness of several days. Mr. Robinson was seventy-one years old, was born in Pike County, and a member of a large family. He and Mrs. Robinson celebrated their golden wedding anniversary last March, at which time all their children and grandchildren were present for that happy occasion. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, W.L. of Corinth and John Robert of Tampa, Fla., four daughters, Mrs. Albert Chapman of Newnan, Mrs. Bob Brown of Moreland, Mrs. Boyd Davis and Mrs. Wylie McWaters of Corinth. He leaves ten grandchildren. A loyal and faithful member of the Baptist church here, funeral services were conducted there Wednesday afternoon, with his pastor Rev. Landrum Leavall in charge. The sermon was preached by Dr. Leavell of Newnan, asisted by Rev. Paul Stokes of Hogansville and Rev. Davis, pastor of Mrs. Bob Brown's church, near Moreland. The many beautiful flowers showed how he was loved and esteemed by his friends and neighbors. Mr. Robinson will be greatly missed by Corinth people. ____ CARD OF THANKS We wish to express our deep appreciation for the many kind deeds of sympathy extended to us during the sickness and death or our beloved husband and father. We shall never forget the ones who were so willing to help and comfort during our great loss. May god's richest blessings be with your in our sincere prayer. Denney, Woodrow Denney and family, Dorsey Denney and family, Webster Denney, Verlyn Denney. ___ LEE TEAL, 74, BURIED AT CANEY HEAD MONDAY Lee Teal, seventy four years of age, a citizen of this county, was fatally burned on last Saturday afternoon. He was carried to the Clinic in Carrollton, where he died on Sunday evening. He was buried Monday afternoon at Caney Head church with Rev. J.C. Adams conducting the funeral rites. Mr. Teal is survived by his widow, two daughters, Mrs. Raymond Toney and Mrs. Jessie Laster, two sons, Isaac Teal and Lewis Teal and one brother, Will Teal. _____ JAMES LEE RECEIVED DISCHARGE FROM NAVY J.M. Lee, EM 3rd class, was discharged this week at Quonset Point, Rhode Island, after two years service, during which time he participated in the Atomic Bomb testing at Bikini Atoll. After his ship was sunk there he was immediately transfered to a second ship which headed for the East Coast via Panama. After the decommissioning of this ship at Norfolk he was assigned to a third ship and spent the past summer in Europe. James is the son of Mr. and Mrs. J.C. Lee of Franklin. ___ EPHESUS News The farmers in this sectioin are making good use of the fine weather at present by sowing grain, slaughtering hogs and cutting wood, harvesting corn and cotton. Several families here have had their homes heated recently by gas. ___ Mr.and Mrs. William Miles has as their guests over the weekend, Mr. and Mrs. Herman Miles and sons and Mr. and Mrs. Swallow all of Columbus. ___ Mr. and Mrs. Tillman Moncas of LaGrange visited their mother, Mrs. Albert Fincher and sons during the weekend. __ Mr. and Mrs. Troy Daniel spent Sunday afternoon with Mr. and Mrs. Wilson Hearn in Roanoke, Ala. __ Mr. Dorsey Brown was laid up last week suffering from a carbuncle. __ Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Denney and Malcom recently visited Mr. and Mrs. Tom Tanner near Tifton, GA. Mr. Tanner continues very ill in his old age. His friends wish him an early recovery. __ Mrs. Ludie Burgess is receiving treatment at the Roanoke Hospital this week. __ WELCOME Community News, by Lynn Ragland Mr. and Mrs. Jim Harcrow are spending some time with their daughter, Mrs. Opal Hyatt and family. __ We are sorry to report Mrs. Mary Bailey in the hospital. She had a successful operation on Saturday. We al hope she will soon be well and at home again. __ Mrs. Ella Farmer and some of her children from Cullman, Ala., recently visited her brothers, Mr. J.W. and D.M. Arrington last weekend. __ Misses Lucrete and Obie Lee Arrington of Springfield, Ala., visited their sister, Mrs. B.L. Noles last weekend. __ Mr. G.C Lesley was called to the bedside of his brother Mr. Jim Lesley of Fairfax, Ala., last week who was seriously ill but glad to report he is better now. __ The writer and family attended the military funeral of Pvt.
