Hopson regret to learn he is quite feeble. His family recently met at his home celebrating his birthday in a most enjoyable manner. __ Mrs. John Morris and Patsy Lee of Jacksonville, Fla., are spending a while with Mrs. Lee Taylor. __ STATE LINE News, by R.W. O'Neal The birthday dinner given for Mr. R.W. O'Neal Saturday was enjoyed by the family. He was 80 years young. We wish him lots more birthdays. __ Mr. and Mrs. C.B. Birchfield and family of LaGrange visited Mr. and Mrs. Ike Golden on Sunday. __ Mr. and Mrs. Newt Williams of Columbus spent the weekend with Grandma Beulah Brrett. __ Mr. and Mrs. Alton Story of LaGrange spent the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Mooney. __ The twin O'Neal boys have built a new blacksmith shop. They will do all kinds of farm repairs. All work cash. __ LETTER FROM ALTON JACKSON FROM BATTEY HOSPITAL Just a few lines coming your way saying the News and Banner was sent me for a birthday gift by my mother-in-law, Mrs. W.W. Traylor. I like it very much so I can see what the news is down your way. I sure enjoy Sister Beulah Daniel's news. Miss Daniel, I would like to wish you the best of wishes that your health soon gets better well as mine. At this writing we only have 23 men on Ward 6 B, on this side and just 32 beds on this side. The whole ward has 64 beds. That ward is the one for exercise. The doctor told me that I would soon go down so wish me good luck. All in B class can go to church on Sunday night, Thursday night, also to Sunday school each Sunday morning. There is a theatre and a show on Tuesday night with B class can attend. Also one Rome radio station brings a stage show out here. You should come in this side of the ward some time. You see some designing a bill fold, while another is cutting one out. Still another is lacing one while one shines his, one he has finished. We have watch on ward, also makes ladies hand bags. I have met a man whose last name is Brown and every week I take my News and Banner so he can look it over. His wife was the daughter of Mr. Harris near Franklin. Mr. John Bagwell has been discharged, also Mr. Wilkerson. Mr. Wright and I wish them best of everything. This is about all I can think of so best of wishes everybody. Atkinson Funeral services for Mrs. Holesombeck were held from Caney Head Church Wednesday afternoon conducted by Rev. Guy Rogers. The family has our sincere sympathy. __ I spent part of last week with my mother-in-law, Mrs. Talley, who is in very feeble health. She spent most of last week here with her sick daughter. She is 85 years old. She is a fine, christian woman. When in Hogansville visit her on Main East Street. It will be greatly appreciated by her and all the family. __ Mrs. B.L. Roberts is in LaGrange Hospital where she underwent a serious operation Thursday. All of her friends and neighbors wish her a speedy recovery and be back home. __ Mrs. W.F. Caswell is not doing so well. We hope she will soon be well again. __ WELCOME Community News Mr. C.G. Morris of Veal visited his sister, Mrs. W.F. Merrell Sunday and they attended church services at Bethel Church. __ Mr. Rick Dukes is in very feeble health at this writing. __ Mrs. Joe Popham is in a hospital. Her friends hope she will soon be at home again. __ Mr. and Mrs. Homer Shirey of Newnan spent the weekend with relatives here. __ CAMPGROUND Community News Mr. and Mrs. Glen Minick and children of LaGrange were Saturday afternoon visitors with their mother, Mrs. Minick who is not doing good at this writing. __ Mr. and Mrs. R.E. Davis had as Sunday visitors, Mr. and Mrs. Truitt Davis, Mr. and Mrs. Freeman Davis, Mr.and Mrs. Newman Davis and children of Franklin and Mrs. and Mrs. Edward Davis of LaGrange. __ Mr. and Mrs. Robert Hester were called to LaGrange one day last week. Her mother, Mrs. Viola Pearson and sister were badly burned. The sister caught fire and the mother was burned in extinguishing the child's clothing. They were both carried to the hospital. __ Mr. and Mrs. Dock Strickland and son Mrs. A.J. Jones and daughter Miss Lela. all of Newnan, spent Sunday with their sister and aunt, Mrs. Minick. __ Sanford and Maurice Hearn of Atlanta, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Hearn, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Smith and Mr. and Mrs. Michael Wingo of LaGrange were weekend guests of their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Hearn. __ Mr. and Mrs. James Huff and little daughter of LaGrange visited their aunts, Miss Eula Kirk and Mrs. R.E. Davis last Saturday. __ The many friends of George Barton, formerly of Heard County but now of Orlando, Florida, will be sorry to hear that he is taking treatments at a sanitorium in Miama, Florida. __ ELERY News, by Jewell Folds Mr. and Mrs. Herschel Hembree visited her parents Mr. and Mrs. Joe Gentry at Tyus. __ IN MEMORIAM OF MRS. DELIA ATKINSON WIth tenderest memory of Mrs. Delia Atkinson who departed this life September 27, 1947. Six long months have passed since you were called away, How well I remember that sad and lonesome day. I am hoping and trusting to meet you again some other way. In her grave she is softly sleeping, while the flowers gently wave. In my heart your memory lingers, sweetly tender fond and true, Although you are gone, you are not forgotten, while in death you sleep alone, sweet memories always linger, with the one you left at home. Tompkins last week. __ Mrs. Kyle Tompkins returned Tuesday from LaGrange Hospital where she was operated on for appendicitis. __ Mr. and Mrs. Bradley Lancaster and Mrs. Kate Boddie of Greenville spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. W.H. Denney. __ EPHESUS News, by Beaulah Daniel There have been several on the sick list including Miss Novlene Holloway, Mrs. Dorsey Brown and Mrs. R.P. Hester. Glad to report Mrs. B.R. Wood is showing some improvement. __ Miss Georgia McClendon of Goodwater, Ala., attended church on Sunday. She accompanied her sister, Mrs. Fannie Robinson to the home of her daughter, Mrs. Alono Payton, after spending the winter months with Mrs. Jewell Broome and family in Goodwater. Glad to welcome Mrs. Robinson home again. ___ The family of Mr. Joe Dave Huddleston gathered Sunday to celebrate his birthday. A nice day was enjoyed by all. __ Mrs. A.W. Duke has returned to her home in Roanoke after a visit with Mr. and Mrs. L.M. Daniel. __ Funeral services for Mrs. J.A. Daniel, age 76, of Roanoke, Ala., our Aunt, were held Friday afternoon March 12th. Rev. N.S. Narden of LaGrange and Rev. Elbert Daniel of Roanoke officiated. She was survived by eight children. __ Mr. and Mrs. Herman Rogers and children attended the funeral of M. Warren Bailey at Flat Rock, Ala., Sunday. Mr. Bailey is the father of Mr. Frasier Bailey of this community.
