Mr. Watts had lived in Heard County for a number of years. He was a member of the Methodist Church at Clay County, Alabama. He is survived by his widow, and two children. Funeral arrangements will be announced later. Lewis & Lipford are in charge of arrangements. ___ LOCAL News Steve McCutchen of St. Louis, MO., is home for the weekend. __ Mrs. Berrien McCutchen spent Tuesday in Atlanta. __ Mr. A.P. Goodson is ill at his home here. His many friends wish an early recovery. __ Mrs. W.S. Grice and Ann are now spending the week with Mrs. P.T. McCutchen. __ WELCOME Community News Mrs. Jim Walker gave a birthday supper Saturday night honoring her husband, Mr. Jim Walker. The following enjoyed the occasion: Mr. and Mrs. Earl Crews of Columbus Mr. and Mrs. Harold Todd and sons Mr. and Mrs. Preston Walker and daughters Mr. and Mrs. Roy Bailey and daughters Mr. and Mrs. Dan Bailey Mr. and Mrs. Bob Bailey Miss Sallie Bailey Mr. and Mrs. John Todd Mr. and Mrs. Merle Bivins and children Mr. and Mrs. Henry Neighbors Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Thomas Mr. and Mrs. Henry Young Mr. and Mrs. Walker also had the following visitors on Sunday: Mr. Millard Petty Mr. and Mrs. Willard Petty and children Mr. and Mrs. Charley Peppers Mrs. Ruby King and children of Atlanta Mr. and Mrs. Homer Shadrix Mr. and Mrs. Bob Jones and children of Grantville. All had a nice time and wished Mr. Walker many more happy birthday. ____ Mrs. Bud Cook has been ill the past two weeks but is improving. __ Mrs. and Mrs. Homer Lee Crockett, Mrs. P.W. Crockett and some others of Columbus visited relatives here over the weekend. __ Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Robinson of Hogansville spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Render Hyatt. __ Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Caswell and family spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. D.M. Gentry and other relatives. __ Mr. and Mrs. Willie Crockett and children spent Sunday with Mrs. Bernice Gentry and children. __ Mr. and Mrs. Hall Caswell of Marietta visited her parents Mr. and Mrs. J.H. Neighbors recently. __ GLENN Community News, by Mrs. Leonard Whitley Mr. and Mrs. C.G. Adamson had as their weekend guests, Mr. and Mrs. Copeland of Fairburn and their children and Mrs. and Mrs. H.D. Adamson of Atlanta. __ Sunday guests of Mrs. Jim Whitley were Paul Turner and family and Mr. and Mrs. John Whitley and Leila Mae of LaGrange. __ Mr. Albert Miles and family moved to Lafayette, Alabama on Friday. Mrs. Miles is under treatment at the hospital there and Mr. Miles deemed it better for him reside closer to the hospital as it is quite a distance from this place. __ Mrs. Dovie Sheppard spent last week with her father, J.J. Harry, who has been confined to his bed for a number of years and seems to be gradually growing weaker. Mr. Harry lives with his son near West Point, GA. __ Dr. Hammett of LaGrange has been out several times to see Mr. Henry Whatley who came very near to having pneumonia but is much better now. __ Mrs. C.G. Adamson celebrated her 71st birthday on Sunday. Cousin Oppie, may this day which marks a milestone bring happiness to you. Also mark the brightest portion of your hopes and dreams come true. __ Mr. Lon Smith who has been in ill health for a number of years is very sick. His children are continuously by his bedside, realizing he does not have any hope for recovery. ___ EPHESUS News On April 3rd, Mrs. P.H. Yarbrough was honored with a surprise birthday dinner at her home near Providence Church. The occasion being her 61st birthday. At noon a very delicious lunch was spread, the table was centered with three lovely birthday cakes holding 61 candles. After the enjoyable meal was over, the afternoon was spent in picture taking and conversation. Those attending from this vicinity were: Mr. and Mrs. J.D. Huddleson and family Mr. and Mrs. W.H. Wilder Mr. and Mrs. Curtis Laney Mr. and Mrs. Maxie Yarbrough Mrs. Mae Huddleston Mrs. Annie Huddleson A wonderful time was reported and the honoree received many nice gifts. ___ Mrs. W.T. Duffie entertained Sunday in honor of her husband and her daughter Mrs. John Cavender. It was both their birthdays. A very bountiful meal was enjoyed at noon. Only the immediate families were present to share it. __ Quite a few remain on the sick list this week: Mrs. G.F. Rogers is very sick Mrs. T.W. Yates is on the Flu list Mr. Dorsey Huddleston was the mumps Mrs. Dana Jordan underwent an operation in an Atlanta hospital last Saturday. To our regret, Mrs. L.G. Rogers will enter the City-County Hospital in LaGrange on Thursday this week. There she will undergo an operation Saturday. Best wishes for success and a quick recovery goes out to her from her many friends. Mr. W.E. Frost is suffering from a bad infection on his hand. __ Mr. Nathan Teal is the new peddler for Mr. Buren Rogers.
