Fowler, LaGrange Alice Fowler, LaGrange Mrs. Abe Seigel and baby boy, Hogansville Mrs. Missouri Gosdin, LaGrange Miss Patsy Winkles, Hogansville Colored Patients: Doc Heizeman, LaGrange __ CORINTH News Mrs. Lucius Arnold is spending a few days with her niece, Mrs. Ford Williams at Anniston, Ala. __ Mr. and Mrs. Jack Hasson and daughter of Knoxville were visitors last week of Mr. and Mrs. Homer Darden. __ Mrs. W.P. Arnold left last week for a visit to New York with her daughter Mrs. Bob McGhee. She plans to be away about a month and Mr. and Mrs. McGhee and daughter Susan will come home with her for a vacation. __ CARD OF THANKS Words cannot express our sincere appreciation for the kindness shown us in the recent loss of our husband and father G.A. Adams Sr. It is at times like this that we are made to realize that friends our our greatest asset. He loved people and people loved him, for this we are thankful. Bonner _______ WELCOME Community News Mr. Henry Neighbors has been ill for several days but is now improving. __ Mrs. Carrie Merrell who has been ill the past week is better. __ CENTRALHATCHEE News Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Frost and De Rita of Winter Haven, Florida arrived Sunday for several weeks visit with their parents and brother, Mr. and Mrs. J.M. Frost and Mr. and Mrs. W.E. Frost and family. ___ Among those on the sick list this week are Mr. Langley, Gay Janney, and Zane Kelley. Mary Joe Wright is still using crutches. __ Mr. and Mrs. Buren Rogers spent last Thursday night with Mr. and Mrs. Comer Yates of Whitesburg and accompanied Marthanel home on Friday. __ LOCAL News Mr. Steve McCutchen of Nashville, Tennessee spent the weekend with home folks. __ NEWSPAPER Issue of Friday, June 24, 1949 MARTHA C. FLOURNOY DIED JUNE 17th AFTER LONG ILLNESS Martha C. Flournoy died at Hermon Chatman's home on June 17, 1949, after a long illness. She is survived by one sister, Miss Emma Chatman of Franklin, two brothers, John Chatman of Hogansville, GA and Herman Chatman of Franklin. Funeral services were conducted from Salem Methodist Church with Rev. Oscar Sheets officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery, Lewis & Lipford in charge of funeral arrangements. ___ L.L. COOK PASSES AFTER LONG ILLNESS Mr. L.L. Cook, prominent Heard county citizen passed away Tuesday June 13th at the City-County Hospital in LaGrange after a long illness. Funeral services were held at Prospect Methodist Church in Texas community, Wednesday, June 14th, with the Revs. H.L. Cochran, O.N. Wade and L.S. Hunter officiating. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Beulah Cook, one son Gordon of LaGrange and his mother Mrs. Vala Cook of Franklin. Lewis and Lipford were in charge of arrangements. ------ CARD OF THANKS We wish to thank the many friends who sent flowers and were so kind to us during the illness and death of our dear husband and father. Merrell's birthday was attended by her four daughters, twelve grandchildren and four great grandchildren. All were present but Clyde Ragland who is in Chicago and could not come. All had a good time and wish her many more birthdays. __ Mr. and Mrs. E.L. Phillips and sons of Rome, spent several days vacation with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lynn Ragland. __ The children and grandchildren of Mr. John Todd gave him a birthday dinner on Sunday. __ EPHESUS News by Beulah Daniel Mr. and Mrs. Wyatt Hester, Mr. and Mrs. Blake Hester and son of Tifton, GA were the weekend visitors of Mr. and Mrs. R.P. Hester and Mr. and Mrs. J.R. Teal and family. __ Mrs. H.L. Weeks and Mrs. Rozelle Higginton of Epworth, GA were recent visitors with Mr. and Mrs. Jim Burgess. __ Mrs. George Rogers with her parents of Glenloch, visited her brother Mr. Cliff Payton who is in the hospital in Milledgeville on Saturday. She was delighted to find him much improved. __ We are sorry to hear of Mrs. Homer Harris' illness in the LaGrange hospital, where she underwent an operation recently. Our best wishes for a speedy recovery go out to her. __ LOCAL News Mr. and Mrs. Reuben Craven and family and Miss Stella Craven attended the commencement at the University of Georgia on June 5th to see Mrs. Velma Craven Wells receive her degree.
