HULL, AGE 68 Mrs. Mary Frances Hull, age 68, passed away Tuesday, September 6, 1949 after a very short illness. She was the former Miss Mary Frances Thaxton and had been a lifelong resident of Rockalo community, a member of Antioch Baptist Church. Services were held from the Salem Methodist church on Thursday, Sept 8th with Rev. Guy Rogers and Rev. Lovic Bryan officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery. Surviving are one son, Tommie Hull of Frolona; four daughters, Mrs. H.L. Calhoun of Atlanta, GA; Mrs. E.F. Grizzard and Mrs. Joe Marlowe of LaGrange, GA; Mrs. B.F. McWilliams of Columbus, GA; 13 grandchildren; two brothers, C.G. Thaxton of Carrollton, GA, and L.L. Thaxton of Columbus, GA. Lewis and Lipford were in charge of arrangements. ___ LEGAL NOTICE Georgia, Heard County Alton P. Lane having in proper form applied to me for Permanent Letters of Administration on the estate of R.J. Lane, late of said county; this is to cite all and singular the creditors and next of kin of R.J. Lane to be and appear in my office within the time allowed by law and show cause, if any they can, why permanent administration should not be granted to Alton P. Lane on R.J. Lane's estate. Witness my official signature this 5th day of September 1949. Louise Sledge, Ordinary ___ MRS. JOHNSON, 65, PASSES TUESDAY Mrs. James M. Johnson, age 65, of the Roosterville community, passed away at her home after a short illness. She had resided in this community for the past several years and had a host of friends that will mourn her going away. Funeral services were held Tuesday Sept 6th at Bethlehem Camp Ground near Graham, Ala., with the Rev. McGill officiating. Interment was in the church yard. She is survived by her husband, James M. Johnson, Rt. 1, Roopville; 2 sons, Mr. Newman Johnson of Ft. Worth, Texas and Mrs. Corbit Johnson of West Point. Mrs. Lewis Ramphy of Woodland, Ala., Mrs. Flovil Brand of Bowdon, GA; Mrs. Ralph Sheppard of Roopville and Mrs. Hugh Cash of Landale, Ala., also survive. Lewis and Lipford were in charge of arrangements. ___ ELERY Community News Mr. and Mrs. Rufe Noles are spending the week with their daughter in Indiana. __ Mr. and Mrs. J.L. Marshall attended the Turner reunion at Centralhatchee on Sunday. __ We are sorry to report that Mrs. Noah Folds is very ill at this writing. We wish her a speedy recovery. __ Mr. and Mrs. Rufe Evans spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Phillip Bozeman. __ EPHESUS News, by Miss Beulah Daniel Our sincere sympathy goes out to the many sick and shut-ins of our community, being one myself. Miss Colie Rogers is at the Emory Hospital under care of doctors concerning head troubles. Mrs. W.L. Rogers is suffering from a broken hip at the Piedmont Hospital in Atlanta. Mrs. Garlin Cater still remains at the LaGrange hospital. ---- Mrs. Dillie Jordan ws honored with a birthday dinner Sunday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Grady Caldwell. All the children and grandchildren were present to wish her many more happy birthdays. __ Mrs. Bill Pierce of Atlanta is spending this week with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Cliff Barker. __ Mr. and Mrs. T.W. Yates visited Mrs. Lewis Thompson and Mrs. Alvin Dukes in Anniston last week. __ Mrs. Mina Kelley spent the weekend in Atlanta visiting Mrs. Bob Reaves and Mrs. Fannie Rogers who are ill. __ Mrs. Clyde Robertson and Rachel spent the weekend in Wedowee visiting Mr. and Mrs. Denzel Williams. Mr. and Mrs. Williams returned home with them, visiting their parents, Mr and Mrs. Brewer Burson. __ LOCAL News Mrs. V.O. Smith has returned from New Smyrna, Florida. __ Mrs. Taylor Green of Sarasota, Fla., spent Monday with Mr. and Mrs. Stanton Adams. __ The friends of Mrs. J.W. Bohler will be glad to learn she is doing nicely at Emory Hospital in Atlanta. __ Mr. Jack Heard of Los Angeles, Calif., died August 23rd. He was a former Heard countian and had lived in California about 38 years. He was a brother of Mrs. R.B.
