Before our departure from Heard Co., it was our pleasure to converse with Mrs. 
Tabitha Wood, mother of the late Col. Winston Wood, who is in her 92nd year. 
Her eyes are good, and s he delights in reading. She handed us to scan 
newspapers published in 1841, which she has carefully preserved for a quarter 
of a century. This lady, born amid the excitement of the first revolution—a 
witness of the war of 1812—a heavy pecuniary sufferer by the disastrous 
termination of the late conflict, who has lead the lonely life of a widow for 
the last sixty years has fair prospects of beholding the dawning of her 
hundredth birthday.
