[Cleburne Co.], died Jan. 5, 2002 at her residence, following an extended illness. Mrs. Baughn was born July 14, 1909, in Heard County, [Ga.], daughter of the late Samuel M. D. and Elizabeth Wilson Nixon. She was a member of Union Hill Baptist Church and a life long resident of this area. She was the wife of the late William Claudie Baughn to whom she was married 72 years. Besides her parents and husband she was preceded in death by brothers, Johnson Nixon, Jacob Richard Nixon, Willie Bee Nixon, George Franklin Nixon and three brothers who died as infants; sisters, Harriet Elizabeth Nixon Gravitt, Annie Zora Nixon Wiggins and Gracy Fanny Mae Nixon Tittle. Survivors include sons, Fred Baughn, Glenn Baughn and Howard Baughn, all of Ranburne; daughters Annie Jo Baughn Bradford of Clearwater, Fla., and Shirley Baughn Shiver of Kennesaw; eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held today, Jan. 8 at 2 p.m. Ala. time at Union Hill Baptist Church in Cleburne County with Rev. Gerald Rogers, Rev. Hugh Weathers, and Rev. Lee Hollis officiating. The body will lie in state at the church one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in Union Hill Church cemetery. Rainwater-West Funeral Home, Bowdon.
