Evans of Moreland died Friday night. She was just recovering from a protracted illness and had been up for several days attending to her household duties. Friday night she prepared supper for the family and retired at her usual bedtime hour, apparently none the worse from the day's fatigue. Saturday morning, when a young son went to her bed to arouse her, she was found to be dead. A sad feature of the case was that the only member of the family able to attend the funeral was the little 10 year old son, the husband and daughter about 15 years, both being prostrated with typhoid fever at the time of the mother's death and we understand that the young man since has been stricken with the same malady. The funeral took place Sunday afternoon. --- NEWSPAPER Issue of Friday, October 14, 1910 It was a pleasure on Sunday last to meet ouf former flock at Bethlehem church and to spend a night with Mr. B.J. Fry and his excellent family. We met a number of old friends on this visit, among them "Aunt" Betty Wortham who is now in her 90th year. We found Rev. Mitt Jones and wife in deep sorrow on account of the death of a beloved daughter, Mrs. Jas. Evans. --- NEWSPAPER Issue of Friday, December 23, 1910 RESOLUTIONS OF RESPECT BY BETHLEHEM BAPTIST CHURCH IN THE DEATH OF MARY CAROLINE EVANS Sister Mary Caroline Evans, wife of J.H. Evans and daughter of M.A. Jones, was born March 21, 1876. She joined the Baptist church at Bethel in HEARD county at the age of 13. She was united in marriage to J.H. Evans in September 1897. She then united by letter with Bethlehem church in 1897. She is survived by her husband, four children and three brothers. She was the first of her father's family to die. She had been in feeble health for some time before her death. Even when infirmities had fallen upon her she would brave the heat and cold to go to her church, for truly did she delight in the services of her Master. All who knew her loved her. There are some whose lives seem made but for the service of others. Such was the life of Mary. Of her good deeds, of her love for her Master's work, this memorial can be but a feeble expression. We loved her, we have lost her, but our loss is heaven's gain. Therefore, be it resolved; That we thank God for her long, faithful, consecrated and godly life among us. That we will ever hold her in loving memory, regarding her life as one of the richest treasures of our church. That these resolutions be spread upon our church records, a copy sent to her family and also furnished the Herald and Advertiser for publication.
