FARR A shocking tragedy occurred about 11 o'clock last Sunday morning when Mrs. J. Wyley Farr was instantly killed by lightning in a bedroom of her home in East Roanoke. In the room also at the time were her husband and two children. None of the others were injured. Mrs. Farr was standing under an electric light drop which had no bulb in it, thus adding to the danger. At the same time, Mr. and Mrs. Eudorus Sharman were severely shocked by the electrical play. Mrs. Sharman was knocked to the floor and rendered unconscious at the time. One of Mr. Sharman's legs were burned. Neighbors were summoned to the home where death had so suddenly come and did all in their power to comfort the distressed family. The remains of the deceased were carried Monday to the former home in Heard County, Georgia and interred at Prospect church, after services conducted at 2 p.m. by Rev. O.A. Moore in the presence of a large congregation. Mrs. Farr was a niece of Mr. J.T. Talley. She was a member of the New Hope Baptist church in Heard County and is highly spoken of by those who knew her. She is survived by the husband and five children, four boys and one girl, ranging in age from 3 years to 15 years. Mrs. Cook, the mother of the unfortunate victim, is staying in the afflicted home for the present. ---- EXPRESSION OF THANKS The Leader is authorized by Mr. J.W. Farr to convey an expression of his unbounded gratitude to the many neighbors and friends who so kindly came to the aid of himself and family in the tragic taking away from the home of wife and mother. These ministrations were most helpful and consoling. Grateful remembrance is herewith recorded.
