The Southern Recorder

January 22, 1839

Died at the residence of his son-in-law in Heard County, Georgia on the 9th 
inst., Mr. David Hudson, in his 77th year. He was in several engagements in 
the Revolutionary War, serving under General deEstaing and General Lincoln in 
the assault on Savannah when Pulaski was killed. He afterwards served 12 years 
in the Legislature from Elbert County, first as Senator, then as 
Representative. For 33 years he was an orderly member of the Methodist Church, 
serving his church as steward and classleader for some years.
