Jackson, an old citizen of Heard County, died suddenly on his farm near Centralhatchee. He was known to be miserly in his habits and exhibited other eccentricities that frequently puzzled his neighbors, but was generally thought to be poorly provided with "this world's goods". The astonishment of his relatives, therefore, may be we imagined when, upon examining his effects, they found concealed in various nooks and crannies about the premises the sum of $5,600. in greenbacks and gold. Some of the greenbacks were of the first series issued by the government in 1862 and there were also a number of gold coins of different denominations, among the latter being forty-eight $1. gold pieces. The dead man was the father-in- law of Mr. T.A. Hutchens, of Welcome, whose children will share in the distribution of the estate. ____ File at: http://files.usgwarchives.net/ga/heard/obits/j/gob1902jackson.txt This file has been created by a form at http://www.genrecords.org/gafiles/ File size: 1.6 Kb
