KITCHENS Miss Sallie A. Green was born in Newton county, Georgia on July 2, 1856. She was married to E.O. Kitchens at the age of eighteen. To this union were born ten children, six girls and four boys, all of whom are living. Sister Kitchens was called to eternal rest on May 14, 1925 at the age of sixty-nine. The greater part of her life was spent in Heard County, Georgia where she was well known and highly esteemed. Sister Kitchens united with the Baptist church early in life and remained faithful until death. She gave freely of her time and means to her church and always cheered her pastor by her presence unless hindered by illness. She was a power for good in the community in which she lived. She always tried to see good in every one. The school and its teachers always found her ready to assist in whatever they wished to do. In this capacity her place will be difficult to fill. Sister Kitchens had a great talent for making friends and keeping them. She was a great friend of children and exerted an influence for good over young people. In her children's and grandchildren's lives she has left a vacancy that to them can never be supplied. The consolation to them is the hope of meeting her in Heaven. Truly of her it may be said, "Her children arise up and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her." J.D. Pittman, Ch'm Com.
