Yesterday we heard the sad news of his death on Monday night. The deceased was widely known as a prominent and useful citizen, a worthy Mason and an upright man. T.C. Lane of the firm of Askew & Lane, L.T. Lane, Postmaster of Franklin, and H.A. Lane, an intelligent and successful farmer, are his sons. Besides them he leaves a wife and several daughters and minor children. We deeply sympathize with them in their great sorrow. The deceased was one of the first to give us a fraternal greeting when we went to Franklin, a stranger, thirteen years ago.
